Position Summary:
The Staff Nurse provides direct patient care and plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compassionate, and safe care to patients. This position involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in accordance with established protocols, patient needs, and healthcare standards. The Staff Nurse will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to promote optimal patient outcomes while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
• Patient Care & Assessment:
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and psychological health.
• Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with medical orders.
• Monitor and document patient progress, vital signs, and responses to treatments.
• Provide health education and counseling to patients and their families.
• Clinical Duties:
• Perform clinical procedures such as wound care, catheterization, and administering injections, as required.
• Assist with diagnostic tests and medical procedures.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities in medical records.
• Provide emergency care as needed and participate in life-saving interventions during crises.
• Patient Advocacy & Communication:
• Act as a patient advocate, ensuring patients' rights are respected and that their concerns are addressed.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team regarding patient status and care plans.
• Educate patients on disease prevention, health maintenance, and wellness promotion.
• Collaboration & Teamwork:
• Work closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Attend team meetings, provide updates on patient status, and contribute to care planning.
• Participate in shift handovers to ensure continuity of care.
• Infection Control & Safety:
• Adhere to infection control guidelines and hospital policies to prevent the spread of diseases.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Follow all safety protocols, including handling and disposing of hazardous materials and medications.
• Professional Development:
• Stay updated with the latest healthcare practices, procedures, and technologies.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training programs.
• Maintain current nursing licensure and certifications as required by state or national regulations.
• Administrative & Documentation Duties:
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and ensure confidentiality.
• Assist with the management of nursing supplies and equipment.
• Participate in audits, quality control measures, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Qualifications:
• Education:
• Diploma, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (RN) from an accredited nursing program.
• Licensure:
• Current state nursing license (Registered Nurse - RN).
• Experience:
• Previous experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not required. New graduates are welcome to apply.
• Skills & Competencies:
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, and patient care protocols.
• Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-centered approach to care.
Working Conditions:
• May involve working in a fast-paced or high-stress environment, especially in emergency or intensive care settings.
• Shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on staffing requirements.
• Physical demands may include standing, walking, lifting, and assisting with patient mobility.
