Job Description

• Assessing patients Nurses evaluate patients' conditions, record their medical histories, and take vital signs like blood pressure and heart rate.
• Administering treatments Nurses administer medications and IV therapy, and monitor their patients' progress.
• Planning care Nurses create or contribute to care plans for patients, and work with doctors and other healthcare professionals.
• Educating patients Nurses teach patients and their families how to manage illnesses or injuries, and explain what to do at home after treatment.
• Monitoring equipment Nurses operate and monitor medical equipment.
• Performing diagnostic tests Nurses help perform diagnostic tests and analyze the results.
• Providing emotional support Nurses provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their relatives.
• Documenting Nurses ensure that all treatments and medications are fully documented in patients' health records.

A nurse's responsibilities can vary depending on the patient's needs and the type of nursing role. For example, a home health nurse might work independently to develop individualized care plans for patients in their homes.
