Job Description

• Post-Transplant Care & Monitoring :
• Provide individualized, high-quality nursing care to liver transplant patients in the immediate post-operative phase.
• Continuously monitor and assess the patient's vital signs, liver function, renal status, electrolytes, and other clinical parameters.
• Administer and titrate medications, including immunosuppressive drugs, antibiotics, and anti-rejection medications, as prescribed.
• Monitor for early signs of organ rejection, infection, or complications such as bleeding, biliary leaks, and hepatic encephalopathy.
• Observe and manage complications related to the transplant process, including graft function, fluid balance, and hemodynamic stability.
• Clinical Interventions :
• Assist with advanced life support and critical interventions, including mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Perform and assist in procedures such as central line insertion, arterial line placement, and management of chest tubes or drains.
• Administer blood products and manage transfusions when necessary, closely monitoring the patient's response.
• Collaborate with medical staff to adjust treatment plans based on continuous assessments and lab results.
• Immunosuppressive Therapy Management :
• Administer immunosuppressive drugs according to the transplant protocol and monitor for side effects and therapeutic efficacy.
• Educate patients and families on the importance of adherence to immunosuppressive therapy and the risks of non-adherence.
• Monitor and manage adverse effects of immunosuppressive medications, including infections, renal function, and bone marrow suppression.
• Patient & Family Education :
• Provide education on liver transplant procedures, post-operative care, medication regimens, and the importance of regular follow-up.
• Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and their families, helping them cope with the challenges of recovery and long-term care.
• Instruct family members on care techniques, signs of complications, and when to seek medical help.
• Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Team :
• Work closely with transplant surgeons, hepatologists, intensivists, pharmacists, dietitians, and social workers to provide comprehensive care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, contributing to care planning and patient management.
• Collaborate on discharge planning, including the coordination of follow-up appointments, rehabilitation, and outpatient care.
• Documentation & Reporting :
• Accurately document all nursing interventions, observations, and changes in patient condition in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Ensure thorough documentation of medication administration, lab results, and treatment changes.
• Report any adverse events, complications, or concerns to the appropriate healthcare providers and follow institutional protocols for reporting.
• Infection Control & Safety :
• Adhere to stringent infection control practices to prevent hospital-acquired infections, especially in post-transplant patients who are immunocompromised.
• Ensure the safety of patients by following established protocols for medication administration, patient handling, and equipment use.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment in the ICU setting.
• Professional Development & Training :
• Stay current with the latest advancements in liver transplant care, ICU nursing, and related fields through continuing education, workshops, and conferences.
• Participate in in-house training and professional development programs to enhance skills in managing complex transplant patients.
• Act as a resource for junior nurses, providing mentorship and sharing expertise related to liver transplant care.
• Ethical and Legal Compliance :
• Ensure that all patient care is delivered in accordance with ethical guidelines, including respecting patient autonomy and dignity.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with hospital policies and legal regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
• Adhere to institutional and legal protocols regarding organ transplant procedures and patient care.

Required Qualifications:

• Education :
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or DGNM.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?350,000.00 - ?450,000.00 per year
