Job Description

-Assists with the smooth functioning of LDR.

- Adherence to Nursing Clinical standards

- Oriented to the LDR routine, equipment and type of patients.

- Assists with preparing LDR for the scheduled patients - equipment and material.

- Prepares the patient for delivery.

- Ensures all investigation reports as advised by the doctor are available for doctor's perusal.

- Assists normal deliveries and knowledgeable about gestational age assessment, special problems of the premature, post-mature, small for gestational age, large for gestational age neonate.

- Maybe required to assist Clinicians with administration of medication, induce labor, monitoring fetal heart rate and similar tasks.

- Thorough knowledge on I.V. fluid and drug calculation.

- Assists in the following procedures with properly set procedure trolleys.

- PV Examination

- Pap Smear

- Epidural Analgesia

- Blood Sampling

- MTP, coordinating disposal of fetus as per PCPNDT

- Administers drugs according to 'Drug Administration Policy.'

-Administering of high-risk medicines to be counter checked by a second nurse for the '10 Medication Rights' and complete documentation policy.

- Observes the patient to ensure safe no adverse reactions.

- Any errors in medication, adverse reactions or nursing intervention to be brought immediately to the notice of the In-Charge and NS. In case of ADR, the respective form to be filled.

- Coordinates procurement of blood and blood products for transfusion. Any reactions must be reported to treating consultant, IC & NS immediately.

- Completes the preoperative checklist before sending the patient to operation theatre.

- Accompanies the patient for special procedures and investigations.

- To have the knowledge of Cardio Toco Graph monitoring.

- To be fully aware of the APGAR scoring performed.

- Assist with Obstetrics emergencies.

- Capable of efficient handling of neonates and new mothers.

- Provides moral support to the mother and family.

- Provides clinical inputs on patient condition to consultant.

- Assists with neo-natal resuscitation.

- Competently handles all equipment and gadgets used in patient care in LDR.

- Ensures all gauze pieces & instruments are accounted for, post-delivery - nothing to be left inside patient.

- Ensures still-born fetus disposal is as per protocol.

- Assists with coordination and documentation of samples for genetic analysis.

- Updates the register to record all blood and blood products wasted / discarded on the floors.

- Adheres to the infection control practices; hand washing techniques, ensures hygiene and sterility of personnel, equipment and environment.

- Maintain personal, patients and environmental hygiene. Strictly follows safety measures involved in patient care and self-protection.

- Handles waste segregation and disposal as per the policy.

- Aware of and implements protocols in the unit related to medication, narcotic policy, personal valuables, etc.

- Adherence to Drug control usage policy.

- To raise requisitions on the computer for drugs.

- Aware of NABH & Nursing Excellence standards and implements the same.

- Aware of the following: Barrier Nursing, Patient and Self Safety, neonatal death.

- Follows universal precautions always as per the unit protocol.

- Maintains confidentiality of patient information - medical and personal. Will ensure no violation by desisting from discussion of patient identifiable information in non-secure areas.

- Aware of patient rights and preserve the same.

- Fulfilling the Service Vision & Inter-department Coordination:

- Is well-groomed as per standard; maintains discipline and decorum.

- Responsible for the implementation of the Service Vision - ensures personalized care while delivering service.

- Engages well with Clinicians, builds respect and rapport.

- Coordinates with support departments to ensure customers are comfortable and services are as per standard.

- Maintains a cordial interpersonal relationship with all colleagues.

- Coordinates and works closely with OT, NICU, Pharmacy & Lab.

- Ward Management:

- Takes over and hands over efficiently at change of shifts.

- Ensures timely completion of all tasks.

- Reports any untoward incidents immediately to In-Charge & NS.

- Ensures no misuse or wastage of material, contributes to cost control.

- Assists with Inventory management. Shift wise inventory check to be done and updated.

- Ensures accurate data collection for Nursing Quality Indicators.

- Assists with maintaining records of all procedures, birth register, still births, incidents, foetus disposal.

- Maintains the medical and nursing records of patients as per the institutional requirements.

- Assists with accurate data collection for Quality Indicators.

- Willingly accepts additional tasks, deployment based on operational requirement.

- Personal Development:

- Attends in-service programs and trainings to enhance knowledge.

- Ensures is up to date with latest protocols and practices.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: ?18,000.00 - ?25,000.00 per month
