Synaptics is looking for a Staff Backup & Recovery Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing backup and recovery solutions for enterprise environments. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity, availability, and security of our data assets. You will be responsible for configuration, maintenance, and operational support of the backup environment. You ensure data protection, system recoverability, and business continuity across the organization. You will setup and maintain backup policies and procedures and participate in efforts to streamline and maintain standards across the environment. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Enterprise Storage and Backup.


Job Duties

• Provide expert-level technical support to diagnose and resolve complex issues related to data protection and recovery including root cause analysis of system failures and implementation of corrective measures
• Develop and implement robust data protection and disaster recovery solutions using Commvault backup software to meet the organization's needs
• Design scalable and secure architectures to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Commvault backup systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
• Monitor system performance and conduct tuning to enhance the efficiency of data backup and recovery processes and optimize system resources
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, SOPs of system configurations, procedures, and changes.
• Generate regular reports on system performance, backup status, and recovery operations for management review.
• Ensure backup solutions comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Implement and maintain security measures to protect backup data from unauthorized access or breaches
• Participate in change control processes to identify and minimize impact to the environment during Commvault maintenance and upgrades
• Ensure backup projects are delivered with high quality and timeliness
• Provide incident response support


Competencies

• Deep understanding of Commvault software, data protection principles, and disaster recovery strategies, along with experience in system integration and performance tuning
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues efficiently

• High level of personal integrity, professional with confidential matters, and demonstrate an appropriate level of judgment

• Resourceful and able to solve problems through adapting technology and a solid understanding of infrastructure
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills; some project management skills helpful

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
• Commvault and NetApp certifications preferred
• 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management with a focus on data protection, backup, and disaster recovery solutions using Commvault Software
• Track record of designing, implementing, and managing backup and recovery solutions for enterprise environments
• Strong hands on experience with backup software including installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting
• Strong understanding of storage technologies, virtualization, and cloud computing
• No travel required
