The Valuations team provides assurance, through trusted independent advice to senior management and the bank\'s stakeholders, that Barclays\' trading positions are well understood and appropriately valued. The team is responsible for the firm\'s independent price verification, model control and key valuation related reporting, policies and projectsKey Accountabilities

  • Work with Valuation Control leads to ensure methodology and implementation go hand in hand for PVA (Prudent Valuation Adjustment)
  • Work with peers across PC-Valuation team to help establish best practice guidelines and ensure these guidelines are well-communicated and adhered to.
  • Working on creating solutions / improvements to the PVA (Prudent Valuation Adjustment) process.
  • The job involves significant extent of Stakeholder management. Involves liaising with leaders in Valuation Controls globally, Internal and External Audit
Person Specification
  • Strong communicator (written and interpersonal) with an understanding of senior management perspective.
  • Confident and assertive with the ability to negotiate and influence constructively across teams and geographies.
  • Capable reviewer of meeting materials and commentary, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Numerate.
  • Strong organisational skills and structured approach.
  • Strong control focus.
  • Experience in working with regulators and auditors
  • Experience with presentation and communication to senior management (which may have been obtained as part of a Professional Services / Consulting firm)
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
  • Strong organisational skills and structured management approach, supporting timely delivery of complex meeting material that includes input from across the global Valuations team.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to distil complex issues into an easy to digest summary for senior management.
  • Leadership skill sets including ability to influence and lead people to drive larger projects.
  • Understanding of fundamental accounting principles related to valuations.
  • Quantitative primary degree (or CA)
  • Valuation control or product control experience in a financial services environment.
