Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
The Head of PMO will oversee the project management function for all distributed solar projects in the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) segment. This role is critical in driving project execution excellence, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Head of PMO will define project management processes, set performance benchmarks, and coordinate cross-functional teams across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases. As a key leadership role, the Head of PMO will guide project managers and ensure alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
1. Project Governance & Delivery:
• Lead the development and implementation of project governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and scope across all distributed solar projects.
• Manage and oversee the entire project lifecycle--from initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure--ensuring smooth delivery.
• Ensure alignment of all project activities with the company's overall strategy and objectives for distributed solar.
2. Client Scope Management:
• Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to understand and define scope requirements, ensuring alignment with technical, commercial, and regulatory expectations.
• Ensure project teams and vendors fully understand the client's scope and deliverables, avoiding scope creep while managing expectations.
• Drive effective scope management through constant communication and clarification with clients and internal teams.
3. Change Management:
• Establish a robust change management process to evaluate and control changes in project scope, cost, and timelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the impact of proposed changes and ensure appropriate approvals are obtained.
• Communicate changes to all relevant stakeholders and manage the execution of those changes while ensuring project continuity.
4. Vendor Management:
• Oversee the selection, contracting, and performance management of third-party vendors and contractors involved in the project execution.
• Ensure that vendors adhere to contractual obligations, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
• Drive cost optimization by negotiating contracts and managing vendor performance against predefined KPIs.
5. Risk & Issue Management:
• Identify, monitor, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle, implementing contingency plans where necessary.
• Establish a process to escalate critical issues and risks to senior leadership, ensuring timely resolution to avoid delays or budget overruns.
• Conduct regular project audits to ensure compliance with PMO standards and risk mitigation strategies.
6. Team Leadership & Development:
• Lead and mentor project managers and support staff across multiple regions, ensuring they are equipped to manage large-scale solar projects effectively.
• Develop a high-performance culture within the PMO by encouraging collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability.
• Conduct regular training sessions to ensure the team stays up-to-date with industry best practices, technologies, and project management techniques.
7. Budget & Financial Oversight:
• Oversee project budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting, financial tracking, and reporting to senior management.
• Drive cost control by managing resources effectively, optimizing procurement, and minimizing unexpected expenditures.
• Ensure adherence to financial protocols and regularly report on project profitability and variances.
Experience
8-10 years of work experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing large-scale solar EPC projects
Industry Preferred
Qualifications
'Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil preferred).
'PMP certification or equivalent preferred
