Description and RequirementsResponsibilities:Work with Access Planning/Engineering to develop and document fiber architecture, growth and capacity plans for Central Region; these plans will ensure a flexible, robust and cost-effective network that will accommodate both near and long term growth demands, as well as strategic network direction and evolution.Managing and monitoring fiber capacity within assigned areas.Creating splice plans for our Outside Plant fiber networks.Working closely with our external fiber splicing companies to ensure networks are spliced according to design.Managing customer demand fiber orders, including any escalated orders.Updating/drafting in our SpatialNet (GIS System) and our Circuit Vision systems with fiber assignments.Supporting and contributing to the success of the team.Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience.8:00 PM to 5:00 AM IST Shift Timing.Qualifications & Required Knowledge:Solid working knowledge of the telecommunications network as it relates to Fiber Access facilities and equipment.Knowledge of the documentation and procedures as it relates to the Access Engineering/Planning and provisioning process (e.g. Area planning, costing, work plans, etc.).Familiar with Telco Central Office environments.Demonstrated ability to design fiber plans based on sound engineering economic analysis and following guidelines established by Standards.Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate and maintain work schedules.Working knowledge of SAP, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.Working knowledge of GIS (Spatial Net), MyWorld, CAD, FOX System, Circuit Vision or other similar applications.Education - B.E or equivalent.Additional Required Skills & Abilities:Ability to plan and organize to effectively meet schedules and deadlines.Well versed in English & French (Read, Write and Speak).Good oral and excellent written communication skills; ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff.Strong analytical skills in collecting and comparing data and sound judgment in evaluating alternatives.Ability to coordinate, motivate and control a variety of resources in reaching work related goals.Understand the importance of developing peers, plus demonstrate a willingness to provide technical support to other team members working on the project assignments.Possess leadership skills to work within a team environment.Willingness to take initiative, organize and manage work assignments to meet goals and time constraints.Ability to provide effective liaison with manufacturers, suppliers, municipal authorities and developers.Required Experience:Experience in various aspects of the Access Network including fiber deployment, SONET equipment, feeder and distribution design, civil engineering, and /or digital loop carrier design.Demonstrated experience in preparing engineering type documents and evaluating alternate design approaches using business/economic analysis skills.Demonstrated leadership skills, and willingness to take initiative.Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team environment.Experience with Access Engineering and Construction processes.Familiar with emerging Access Network technologies.Experience in leased support structure processes and leased fiber.EEO StatementAt TELUS International, we enable customer experience innovation through spirited teamwork, agile thinking, and a caring culture that puts customers first.
