Within our unit we develop, validate and service gear units used in wind turbines producing sustainable energy and we have been doing this for more than 40 years! Today we build new drivetrain solutions to meet the requirements of the future. As wind turbines continue to grow, we are continuously pushed outside of our engineering boundaries, which makes it a challenging engineering environment to work in. We are looking for a new colleague in the Materials Management department at our location in Coimbatore, India supporting Passau, Germany. Your Tasks: Create and evaluate cost reduction ideas through technical and commercial analysis and data gathering during the whole Product Life Cycle (Value Engineering + Value Analysis) Facilitate cross functional workshops and benchmarking activities to develop cost reduction ideas Visit suppliers (global locations) to analyze their manufacturing process/materials/tooling costs Support Design to Cost by generating design alternatives to achieve the product cost targets Assess ideas feasibility with cross functional team from a technical and financial prospective on a global basis Lead technical discussions and cross-functional project meetings Track closely the detailed status of ideas implementation (test releases, supplier PPAPs, customer releases) Work with the Test and Validation group to plan and maintain timing to validate the cost-reduction ideas Drive design changes through engineering systems using established engineering processes (e.g. ECR, ECO, ECN, Axalant Workflow) Increases profitability by driving design changes or substituting suppliers reducing overall BOM cost Present cost reduction ideas to internal and external stakeholders Resolve issues to keep timing on track and escalate on a timely manner roadblock that cannot be solved at the project team level provide relevant reporting for cost decisions (status reports of ongoing activities, progress towards savings target implementation, and forward workshop planning) Your Profile: Bachelor\'s Degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience Strong knowledge in Value Engineering + Value Analysis, especially in Cost savings, ZBC/Target cost etc., Good experience in handling commodites like castings, forgings & machining.
