What you will do: 1) Monitor generated log and event files for messages indicating errors that will result in an incident 2) DR Database availability Monitoring 3) DR Database Query Monitor 4) Monitor database log replication 5) Monitor event logs/error details 6) Report Status of Log Replications as per agreed schedules 7) Session/Query/Log/Latch monitoring 8) Monitor the DB for failures and logged system events that indicate an imminent failure 9) Purging database Logs and trace files 10) Periodic config review to maintain consistent configurations 11) Review and recommendation to maintain availability 12) Monthly report on database availability 13) Monitor the DB for failures and logged system events that indicate an imminent failure. 14) Reinstall Database software 15) Reconfigure log Shipping 16) Transaction replication 17) Failover clustering 18) AlwaysON 19) DB encryption 20) Link Server 21) DB migration 22) Handling Major incident 23) Responding to database related incidents and drive corrective action 24) Tuning DB parameters 25) Support to SQL DB L2 team for handling critical issue. 26) Correlate related incidents together into a problem ticket and manage through the problem management process 27) Use trend analysis to identify, detail, categorize, prioritize and create Problems Management Records. 28) Restoration of database 29) Creating jobs/job schedule for routine/Maintenance jobs & Rebuilding of indexes 30) Purging database Logs and trace files & Performance Management 31) Defragmentation of Database and performance tuning 32) Manage all Service requests through the change management process 33) Automate administration tasks where possible 34) Manage and update all Database environment documentation Knowledge and Skills: Technical:
Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
SQL Server database administration for versions 2008R2 - 2019.
Experience in high availability solutions to replication using mirroring, Always-on Availability, snapshots, Windows clustering
Azure DB and SaaS. Managed instances, and AzureDB.
AWS DB, EC2, RDS supporting SQL Server and MySQL databases
SQL and performance tuning experience.
Database refreshes and upgrades.
Capacity planning.
Migration of databases from on-prem to Azure/AWS.
Good leadership skills in SQL Server technology.
Provide guidance and recommendation to the infrastructure and application team on database setup and technologies.
Non Technical:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in language to be supported.
Experience in troubleshooting in a technical environment.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Software and hardware knowledge of computing, storage and peripheral devices.
Advanced proficiency with case management databases and tools.
Superior customer service skills.
Ability to solve and document solutions for usage of other technicians and customers.
Ability to mentor new agents.
Ability to lead resolution activities with escalated customers.
Ability to contribute to technical action plans.
What you need to bring:
Bachelors degree in Engineering (or Equivalent).
Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in Enterprise Technical Support environment
ITSM / project management knowledge is essential.
Flexible to work in 24X7 support environment, ready to travel 25% of the time.
