Specialist | Full-Time | EngineeringAn exciting opportunity is available for a Mechanical Engineer in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector in Australia, focusing on wind energy. The position resides within the Service Organization, providing support to both the Service and Construction departments. The successful candidate will offer technical support and serve as a liaison between VPS and local business units throughout the APAC region.Region APAC

Engineering Support APACResponsibilities

• Provide technical support for a variety of mechanical components within the wind turbine covering hydraulic units (pitch systems), main shaft arrangements, blade bearings, torque arms, transmission systems, rotating units, yaw gears, and yaw bearings.
• Support in major component exchanges including blades, drivetrain, transformers, hub, etc- Support with tool optimisation and design
• Evaluation of work processes for optimisation purposes.
• Translate technical issues into business cases and support continuous improvements.
• Act as a single point of contact for technical matters within the global organisation.
• Work in partnership with service divisions throughout the APAC region to identify and address pain points.
• Create projects for cost reduction ideas.
• Generate high-level technical reports, including root cause analyses and serious incident reports if needed.
• Escalate and work with the module owners to approve cost reduction ideas for implementation.
• Participate in forums to drive cost reduction and improve turbine availability.
• Collect and analyse data to reduce costs and increase availability.
• Manage regional technical projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s / Master\'s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10-15 years of technical experience.
• Wind turbine knowledge/experience preferred.- Project Management experience (as project participant or project manager) a plus.
• DMAIC experience is an advantage
• Offshore Wind Turbine Experience a bonus

Competencies

• Proven expertise in maintaining hydraulic systems, gearboxes, and bearings.
• Mechanical candidates specialising in drivetrain and hydraulics, with relevant professional experience in industrial maintenance and R&D, will be preferred.
• Extensive experience in major component exchanges, including gearboxes, blades, hubs, and more.
• Strong communication skills.
• High technical proficiency
• Excellent English proficiency.
• Innovative analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective multitasking in challenging environments.
• Outstanding time and project management skills.
