Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher specializing in speech disorders to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping students with speech and language impairments achieve their full potential. This role involves designing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs, collaborating with other educators and specialists, and providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
#### Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement IEPs:
- Assess students' speech and language abilities and develop individualized education plans.
- Set specific, measurable goals tailored to each student's needs.
- Regularly review and update IEPs based on student progress.
- Instruction and Intervention:
- Provide direct speech and language instruction to students in individual or small group settings.
- Use evidence-based practices and interventions to address speech and language disorders.
- Integrate speech and language goals into academic and social activities.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other special education teachers, speech-language pathologists, general education teachers, and support staff.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies to support development at home.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development sessions.
- Classroom Management:
- Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Implement behavior management strategies as needed to support student engagement and participation.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Assessment and Documentation:
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of student performance, IEPs, and communications with parents and colleagues.
- Prepare progress reports and other required documentation.
#### Qualifications:
- Education:
- Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field.
- Certification:
- Valid state teaching license with a special education endorsement.
- Certification in Special Eductation with or a related area is a plus.
- Experience:
- Previous experience working with children with Special Children environment is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and augmentative communication devices.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of speech and language development and disorders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and implement effective instructional strategies.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to helping students succeed.
#### Work Environment:
- This position typically involves working in a classroom setting, with occasional home visits or community-based instruction.
- Some lifting and physical activity may be required to assist students with mobility issues.

Pay: ?8,000.00 - ?15,000.00 per month
Expected hours: No more than 50 per week
