We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef specializing in Indian cuisine to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, creating authentic Indian dishes, and ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation. The Sous Chef will also be responsible for training kitchen staff, managing inventory, and maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Food Preparation and Cooking:
• Prepare and cook a wide variety of Indian dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and desserts.
• Ensure the authenticity of recipes and presentation of Indian cuisine.
• Maintain consistency in taste, quality, and presentation of all dishes.
• Kitchen Management:
• Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations.
• Supervise kitchen staff, including line cooks and kitchen assistants.
• Coordinate with other chefs and kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow.
• Menu Planning and Development:
• Assist in creating and updating the menu with innovative Indian dishes.
• Develop new recipes and suggest improvements to existing ones.
• Ensure all menu items are prepared to the highest standards.
• Inventory and Supplies:
• Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies.
• Order and purchase kitchen supplies and ingredients as needed.
• Manage food cost and minimize waste.
• Training and Development:
• Train and mentor kitchen staff on cooking techniques and proper use of kitchen equipment.
• Ensure all staff are knowledgeable about the menu and can execute dishes to standard.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback.
• Health and Safety:
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
• Implement and enforce proper food handling and storage procedures.
• Customer Service:
• Assist in addressing customer inquiries and special dietary requests.
• Ensure customer satisfaction with food quality and presentation.
• Handle customer feedback and resolve any issues promptly.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in an Indian cuisine restaurant.
• In-depth knowledge of Indian cooking techniques, spices, and ingredients.
• Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
