The Sourcing Engineer is an Independent Contractor for WAI Global and will be essential for ensuring a smooth supply chain for WAI Global, maintaining cost-effective procurement, and strengthening our current and new supplier relationships. This individual will balance their technical expertise with business acumen to drive WAI values and be the representative for our diversified sourcing projects in the India region. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sourcing Activities: Sourcing engineers are responsible for leading sourcing activities. This includes identifying suppliers, evaluating their capabilities, and selecting the most suitable ones for the organization\xe2\x80\x99s needs.
- Cost Management: They drive cost improvements by conducting cost analyses, negotiations, and implementing cost-effective strategies. Their goal is to optimize expenses while maintaining quality.
- Supplier Relationships: Sourcing engineers build and maintain relationships with suppliers. They collaborate closely with them to ensure a steady supply of materials or components.
- India Market Insights: They stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and supplier capabilities. This knowledge helps them make informed decisions and identify best practices.
- Quality Assurance: Sourcing engineers participate in supplier quality-related activities. They ensure that suppliers meet quality standards and address any issues promptly with the assistance of US and China QC teams.
- Innovation and Efficiency: These professionals actively contribute to cross-functional teams, manage projects, and drive continuous improvement. They also play a role in new product introductions and supplier transitions.
- Technical Expertise: Sourcing engineers develop subject matter expertise in specific technical categories. They understand the technologies, supply base, and industry developments related to their assigned category. It will help if this position is filled by someone who is a graduate of engineering school and has knowledge of the automotive industry.
- Total Cost Perspective: They consider not only the initial cost but also the total cost of ownership (TCO) when helping US Sourcing teams to make sourcing or resourcing decisions.
