Clifford Chance is a place where the brightest minds and the best of colleagues meetThe RolePart of the Product Management Group, the Solution Architect plays a critical role in helping align teams in a common technical direction, providing solutions to accomplish the portfolio mission, vision and roadmap.This role focuses on the HR and Learning portfolio and, as such, the role holder will be conversant in a range of HR and Learning systems with an additional focus on Workday.Who you will work withThe Product Management Group is part of our Global IT Operations function, providing first class IT Operations to the firm in a secure, measurable & cost-efficient manner.In addition to working with IT Colleagues the role will also work closely with HR stakeholders to ensure solutions are aligned with the technical roadmap and business requirements.What you will be responsible forThe Solution Architect role has the following key responsibilities:

  • Definition of subsystems and their interfaces, allocate responsibilities to subsystems, understand solution deployment and communicate requirements for integrations between solutions.
  • Establish high level solution intent; help establish solution information models and documentation requirements.
  • Establish critical non-functional requirements at solution level, participate in definition of others.
  • Working with portfolio stakeholders (in particular the Domain Architect and Product Manager), develop, analyse, split and realise the implementation of Enabler Epics
What you will do
  • Work in cross-discipline teams that truly take a system view on solution development.
  • Participate in definition of higher-level functional and non-functional requirements, analyse technical trade-offs, determine the major components and subsystems, and define the interfaces and collaborations between them. Understand solution context and work with Business Professional teams and vendors to help ensure fitness for the Firm environment.
  • Understand complexities of large-scale solution development and apply Lean & Agile practices to address them where appropriate.
  • Work with Product Management to determine capacity allocation for enablement work (we have default rules to ensure we have capacity allocation to both business epics as well as Enabler epics).
  • Participate in planning, definition and high-level design of the solution and explore solution alternatives.
  • Operate within the economic framework to validate the financial impact of design decisions.
  • Participate in Release Planning activities, system and solutions demos, and inspect & adapt events.
  • Define, explore and support the implementation of value streams and program (we call these "Portfolios") enablers to evolve solution intent; work directly with Agile teams to implement, explore or support them.
  • Plan and develop the architectural runway in support of upcoming business features/capabilities.
  • Foster built-in quality and security.
QualificationsYour experience
  • Previous experience (at least 5 years) of working for a global professional services environment or corporate organisation such as finance/banking, specifically in support of HR and Learning functions.
  • Knowledge of architecture frameworks and methods such as The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) and the ability to develop and maintain personal architectural knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Experience of solution architecture tools and techniques.
  • Deep knowledge of data management frameworks, tools, platforms, and visualisation tools.
  • Experience of Data Modelling and design, including modern Data Science concepts and approaches.
  • Technical expertise in HR and Learning technologies in general and specifically Workday HCM (at least 5 years).
  • Experience developing Workday reporting and analytics.
  • Experience in other Workday modules such as Talent & Performance, Advanced Compensation, and Learning are an added advantage.
  • Experience in Project Delivery framework practices and Scaled Agile (SAFe) practices, including agile, iterative and waterfall project delivery methodologies.
  • Experience of working with multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
  • Proficiency in application development and scripting languages.
  • Understanding of DevSecOps practices.
  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its subsets.
  • Proven experience in providing technology solutions for HR and Learning business teams, specifically in Workday, however a broad range of product experience is preferred.
  • Proven experience working withing HR and Learning product teams.
  • Extensive senior stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communicator, able to motivate, coach and mentor a strong technical team.
