Job Summary Manages and directs activities of other software engineers in product testing, documentation, and sustaining activities. Plans, develops and leads software projects and test automation development. Performs senior level software engineering to improve the quality of new and/or modified products. Supervises software engineers to define schedules and priorities and ensures that project goals are met on schedule and within budget. Determines levels of effort for all department activities. Follows up on progress and reports project status to Software Engineering Director Follows and maintains internal processes, procedures, and Work Instructions related to responsibilities. Utilizes Agile development practices and instructs others on Agile software development methods. Guides other software engineers toward proper technical approaches. Reviews their documentation, designs, and software code as needed. Estimates cost and schedule to support project approvals. Determines estimates to complete for assigned projects. Software Quality Assurance Define test strategies and test approaches for a project. Develop test plans that cover functional, regression, performance, load, smoke, and deployment testings. Design, develop, maintain, execute, and report on test cases for various product releases. Become thoroughly acquainted with current and future HME products and HME processes including Agile. Use bug tracking systems to track the life cycle of bugs. Develop and maintain quality engineering processes and initiatives within the department. Champion automation initiatives in software quality. Supports field test, SQE test and Manufacturing test of product developments. Ensures products meet software security requirements, drives awareness of security considerations Develops and checks release documentation. Delegates a portion of technical leadership responsibilities to a Lead Engineer as required. Serves as liaison with contractors to ensure they meet schedule and cost parameters. Works with Product Management and Sales to ensure software design acceptance for all projects. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Expertise in testing user interfaces. Expertise in test development frameworks and tools. Expertise in testing connected devices. Experience with the Agile methodology as it relates to testing and development teams. Able to properly estimate project schedules and costs. Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to easily work with other technical leaders, other departments, and outside suppliers. Capable of leading test efforts related to Root Cause Analysis of product issues Familiar with Microsoft Azure, application testing, and real-time multitasking operating systems Experience Minimum of 10 years of Software Quality Engineering Minimum 3 years engineering management responsibilities Education Bachelor\'s Degree in related field - Required Travel 10%
