Why this job mattersWe are looking for an experienced and dynamic Software Engineering Manager to join the award-winning team and take on the critical role of managing and maintaining a high-value roadmap worth up to 12 million pounds per year.The successful candidate will be responsible for orchestrating the execution of the roadmap, collaborating with stakeholders, guiding solution definition, and leading teams in problem-solving efforts. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to navigate complex and conflicting priorities within a resource-constrained environment.What you\'ll be doing1. Roadmap Management:

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive and strategic roadmap aligned with business goals, technical capabilities, and internal technical goals.
• Monitor and track progress on roadmap initiatives, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and alignment with established milestones.

2. Stakeholder Management:

• Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, communicate progress, and manage expectations.
• Leverage strong communication and negotiation skills to address conflicting priorities and drive alignment among various stakeholders.

3. Solution Definition:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to define technical solutions that address business needs and customer requirements.
• Provide guidance on technology choices, architecture, and design decisions to ensure the roadmap\'s success.

4. Team Leadership:

• Lead and inspire software engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to team members, enabling their professional growth and development.

5. Problem Solving:

• Drive teams in identifying and resolving technical challenges and roadblocks, ensuring that projects stay on track and solutions are delivered effectively.

6. Prioritization and Resource Management:

• Navigate conflicting priorities and demands within a resource-constrained environment, making strategic decisions that optimize the allocation of resources.

7. Communication and Reporting:

• Clearly communicate roadmap progress, updates, and risks to senior leadership, ensuring transparency and facilitating informed decision-making.

8. Technical Expertise:

• Maintain a strong understanding of software engineering principles, emerging technologies, and industry best practices to guide technical discussions and decisions.

Qualifications:

• Proven, demonstrable experience in software engineering management, with a track record of successfully managing complex roadmaps and projects.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve their best.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Deep technical understanding of software development processes, methodologies, and technologies.
• Experience in addressing conflicting priorities and managing resources effectively.

• Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
• Previous experience in high-value roadmap management and working with stretched-out teams is a significant advantage.
