Our System Monitoring team builds and operates a telemetry-gathering system on Akamai\'s globally distributed platform. Our software allows Akamai servers to report their health and fine-grained utilization data to the load-balancing system. This controls how traffic is directed around the internet in response to dynamic changes in demand, capacity, and network conditions.

We\'re looking for a talented engineer to lead our System Monitoring team in India. You will provide technical guidance and direction to developers responsible for supporting the current system.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Designing and developing next-generation capabilities for the Monitoring System
• Enhancing existing monitoring and configuration interfaces
• Troubleshooting problems with the deployed system
• Collaborating with the various testing, operations, and development teams that work on the system

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Be proficient in the art of writing clear, maintainable, secure, and highly reliable code.
• Have C++ coding and some background in Python and/or Perl.
• Have Linux experience including deep system knowledge in OS principles, networking, or system internals.
• Have experience in developing low-level complex software systems such as virtualization, databases, filesystems web servers, or similar systems
• Have the art of collaboration (we\'re looking for a team player with solid written and verbal communication skills)
