The Vacancy


We are seeking a Software Engineer Manager to be based in India looking after a team of Software and Quality Engineers. You will be working with cross-functional teams to deliver increased value across our Cloud products. A key aspect of the role will be coaching the engineers to optimise delivery, develop their skills and foster a generative culture. This is a hands off position in terms of coding, but having a strong base in software engineering and agile delivery is a must. You will be line manager for a collection of software engineers and quality engineers across a couple of delivery teams, responsibilities will include setting objectives, performance appraisals and developing the careers of the team members. You will also get involved with and lead cross department initiatives to share knowledge and foster best practices
Responsibilities
  • Coach individuals with their professional development to nurture a growth mindset and culture of psychological safety
  • Promoting and coaching good DevOps practices in order to help the team deploy frequently, reduce lead time and resolve incidents quickly
  • Conduct ongoing one-to-ones, objective sessions, and formal performance review meetings to document, track and develop individual\'s progress
  • General line management responsibility for individuals in their care
  • Establish own accountabilities and metrics for other activities to ensure that success can be measured and defined for non-managerial time
  • Recruitment of engineering roles into the product team
  • Driving and being involved with a number of cross departmental initiatives

Experience
  • Strong line management skills with the ability to get the best out of your team
  • An extensive background in Software Engineering, ideally in the public cloud with a modern programming language
  • Strong understanding of TDD practices
  • Proven ability to communicate, manage and influence stakeholders
  • Good understanding of software engineering best practices
