As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Asset & Wealth Management, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm's state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.
JP Morgan Asset and Wealth Management technology is seeking a passionate software engineer for Morgan Direct E-Trading platform. Morgan Direct provides internet based Client facing portal with 'Best in Class' client experience in retails fund transaction, and also has an internal facing application to administer and do client servicing by various Asset Management internal teams. We are continuing to actively grow the Direct business with marketing campaigns in HK & Taiwan. This role offers the chance to utilize your enterprise engineering and design skills, to architect and transform the existing fund trading platform, into a cloud-native, event driven architecture, ensuring best design practices in identify failure points, scalability bottlenecks, and maintain data dependencies through domain-driven design cross various consumers. The individual is expected to work with team members in India and collaborate with HK & Taiwan based tech and business stakeholders in defining platform strategy. You'll be part of a diverse team that values creativity and teamwork, with the opportunity to shape the technical architecture to meet future needs. The platform is built using AWS and other cutting edge Java and full stack technologies that will support developers future learning while in the role.
Job responsibilities
• Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting
• Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance
• Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications. Executing on product roadmap to address both current and future needs of Morgan Direct platform and it's growing business
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation
• Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity
• Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development
• Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems
• Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience
• Strong Experience with Java, Spring, React and Object oriented concepts
• Strong understanding of relational databases and data technologies, experience in at least one database such as Oracle, RDS, DynamoDB
• Expertise in middleware stack such as messaging (SQS, SNS, Kafka)
• Experience working in large databases, dealing with database performance and data transfer
• Good analytical and problem solving skills
• Knowledge of DevOps practices
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
• AWS experience and knowledge on tools such as Terraform is a plus
• Domain modeling experience is a plus
