That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone\'s reach while doing the most important work of your career.About the teamThe Finance Engineering (FinEng) team is at the core of Stripe, empowering mission-critical financial domains including Finance & Strategy, Accounting, Finance Operations, Treasury, and Tax. We are the custodians of Stripe\'s financial data, powering financial data warehousing technologies and financial automation technologies to ensure accounting books are closed on time and to build globally compliant financial statements. Additionally, we build platforms and infrastructure to support financial planning and forecasting, estimate delinquency, and automate Tax, Treasury, and Finance operations.What you\'ll doWe\'re looking for people with a strong background or interest in building successful products and systems; you\'re comfortable in dealing with lots of moving pieces; you have exquisite attention to detail; and you\'re comfortable learning new technologies and systems.Responsibilities

• Scope, design, implement, and deploy robust solutions, making appropriate tradeoffs between reliability, throughput, latency, resiliency, engineering velocity and cost.

• Innovate, design and implement software solutions (ranging from frontend, to backend), that empower mission-critical financial domains including Finance & Strategy, Accounting, Finance Operations, Treasury, and Tax at scale.

• Uphold our high engineering standards and improve our codebase and processes

• Contribute to team strategy, roadmap, tooling, process, and culture

Who you areWe\'re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.Minimum requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in engineering or related fields.

• Enjoy being a generalist working on backend technologies (Java, C++, Go, C#, Python) and sometimes front-end technologies (TypeScript, React, JS), and anything it takes to solve problems and delight users both internally and externally.

• Familiarity with databases (MongoDB preferred; AWS Aurora)

• Have operational experience of taking on-call responsibilities, troubleshooting production issues.

• Thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts.

• Take pride in working on projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems.

• Ability to stitch together many different services and processes together even if you have not worked with them before.

• Ability to put yourself in the shoes of your users and be a steward of crafting great experiences.

• Enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different expertise.

• Ability to uphold best practices in engineering, security, and design.

In-office expectationsOffice-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in our Bucharest, Romania site have an 80% in-office expectation, and those in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengalaru, India work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss.
