Database Management:

Installation and Configuration

• Installing and configuring database software and related tools.
• Collaborating with system administrators to ensure proper integration with the overall IT infrastructure.

Database Design

• Designing and implementing database structures based on organizational needs and application requirements.
• Optimizing database performance and ensuring data integrity.

Data Security

• Implementing and maintaining security measures to safeguard database systems.
• Managing user access and permissions to ensure data confidentiality.

Backup and Recovery

• Developing and implementing backup and recovery strategies to protect against data loss.
• Regularly testing backup and recovery procedures to ensure reliability.

Performance Monitoring and Tuning

• Monitoring database performance and identifying areas for optimization.
• Implementing tuning strategies to enhance database efficiency.

Issue Resolution

• Investigating and resolving database-related issues and errors.
• Collaborating with development and IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly.

Capacity Planning

• Monitoring database capacity and planning for future growth.
• Recommending hardware and software upgrades to meet increasing data demands.

Data Maintenance:

Data Migration and Integration

• Managing the migration of data between different database systems.
• Integrating databases with other applications and data sources.

Patch and Upgrade Management

• Applying patches and updates to database software to address security vulnerabilities and enhance features.
• Planning and executing database upgrades as needed.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintaining comprehensive documentation for database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Generating reports on database performance and activities.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator.
• Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Strong understanding of database design principles and normalization.
• Familiarity with database security best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to have:

• Previous FedEx experience
• Masters degree
• SAFe certification
• Azure, K8 experience
• Domain knowledge in logistics, finance, or supply chain
