Aligned strategically within Yahoo\'s Global CIO organisation, the team collaborates closely with various departments, including Finance, HR, Sales, Legal, Engineering, Products, and other administrative groups, to deliver application-driven business process solutions and management reporting platforms. Responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting large-scale enterprise business systems, as well as employee-facing productivity and communication tools, this team plays a crucial role in powering Yahoo\'s internal operations.Job Responsibilities/The Role/The JobThe position is for a Software Apps Engineer II (IC2) (MicroStrategy Developer). As a Business Intelligence developer in the Enterprise BI Team, your primary responsibilities will include design, development, support and maintenance of our automated business intelligence products. You will Identify business requirements, design processes that leverage/adapt the business logic and regularly communicate with business stakeholders to ensure delivery meets business needs.Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and implement MicroStrategy V10.X reporting solutions or later versions.Demonstrate expertise in modelling metadata, creating complex schema objects, and developing integrated data sets and intelligent cubes from multiple data sources.Develop interactive/dynamic reports and dashboards, utilising all available visualisation and functionality options in MicroStrategy.Hands-on experience with MicroStrategy development tools: Architect, Desktop/Workstation, Web, Mobile, Object Manager, Enterprise Manager/Platform Analytics, and Command Manager.Identify and address performance bottlenecks in MicroStrategy reports and dashboards, optimising queries and data retrieval processes.Collaborate with business analysts, stakeholders, and other IT teams to understand requirements and deliver effective MicroStrategy solutions.Utilise advanced SQL skills for data mining and collaborate with ETL developers for database development.Apply functional knowledge of ETL tools (e.g., DataStage, Scripts) to facilitate optimised analytics in MicroStrategy.Possess excellent knowledge of RDBMS, SQL, and data warehousing concepts.Stay updated with MicroStrategy product updates and industry best practices to enhance the reporting environment continuously.Work in a Global delivery environment and be familiar with Agile (Scrum) project methodology and practices.Demonstrate strong analytical skills.Overall Position Scope and Accountability:Operate independently with guidance only in complex situations.Serve as a mentor for colleagues with lesser experience.Guide others in solving complex work problems.Develop solutions to complex/unusual problems in their own area.Demonstrate the ability to take a new perspective on existing solutions.Skills & Qualifications:Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Intelligence, or a related field.Minimum of 7 years of industry experience, including 5+ years specifically in Reporting/ETL BI development and administration.Advanced proficiency in MicroStrategy architecture, design, development, and administration.Extensive experience in creating complex dashboards, reports, and analytics using MicroStrategy.Proficiency in developing and optimizing cubes for efficient data analysis.Strong understanding and practical experience in implementing security measures in MicroStrategy to protect sensitive data.In-depth understanding of relational databases (e.g., Oracle, MySQL) and experience with data modelling.Familiarity with ETL processes and tools for data integration.Advanced skills in writing complex SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation.Proven track record of successfully leading or contributing significantly to MicroStrategy BI projects.Experience with the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering to implementation and support.Strong leadership skills, potentially including experience in leading a team or mentoring junior developers.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to analyse complex business requirements and provide effective BI solutions.Yahoo is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
