Overview:

A social studies teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an instructional program in social studies that encourages a positive and effective learning environment. The teacher should foster intellectual, social, and emotional development in students while ensuring adherence to the curriculum and educational standards.

Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development:

Develop and implement a comprehensive social studies curriculum aligned with state and national standards. Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

Instructional Delivery:

Effectively deliver lessons that promote critical thinking, historical analysis, and civic engagement. Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, group activities, discussions, and technology, to enhance student understanding.

Assessment and Evaluation:

Develop and administer assessments to evaluate students' understanding of social studies concepts. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their academic performance and progress.

Classroom Management:

Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning. Implement and enforce classroom rules and procedures to ensure a respectful and orderly atmosphere.

Communication:

Maintain open and regular communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress, achievements, and concerns. Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate social studies concepts across various subjects.

Professional Development:

Stay updated on educational trends, teaching methodologies, and social studies content.

Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Extracurricular Activities:

Encourage and support students' participation in social studies-related extracurricular activities, such as history clubs, debates, or model United Nations.

Parental Involvement:

Foster positive relationships with parents and guardians to create a supportive educational community. Attend parent-teacher conferences and other school events to discuss student progress and address concerns.

Qualifications:

B.Ed. or M.Ed in History/Geography

Knowledge of current educational trends, teaching methodologies, and social studies content.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?15,000.00 - ?25,000.00 per month
