SME Underwriter -3+Years- MumbaiLocation- MumbaiSummary: We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated SME- Underwriter to join our dynamic team. This role offers a unique opportunity to manage and assess various commercial lines of insurance, including Property, Engineering, Miscellaneous, Package, and Workers' Compensation products. Marine experience is an added advantage.Key Responsibilities:1-Commercial Lines Underwriting: Manage underwriting activities related to Property, Engineering, Miscellaneous, Package, and Workers' Compensation products.2-Marine Underwriting: Experience in marine underwriting is a plus.
Quote Management: Handle quotes up to the authority level for specific underwriters. Follow the referral process for quotes exceeding your authority limits.3-Sales Enablement: Work closely with the sales team to identify market opportunities and align underwriting guidelines to approach various proposals and risks effectively.4-Risk Assessment & Inspection: Conduct risk inspections and engineering analysis when necessary to evaluate and assess potential risks.5-Training & Development: Organize and conduct training programs for the sales team, partner teams, and external partners to improve underwriting knowledge and efficiency.6-Claims Management: Monitor claims closely and take corrective actions to maintain Loss Ratio (LR) and Combined Operating Ratio (COR) within acceptable levels.7-Data Analysis & Market Trends: Analyze underwriting data to identify gaps, emerging trends, and areas for alignment with fast-moving market conditions.8-Identifying Growth Opportunities: Identify areas or risks where we should focus efforts to grow our commercial underwriting premium base.Requirements:1-Relevant Experience: Proven experience in commercial underwriting, especially in Property, Engineering, and Workers' Compensation products. Marine underwriting experience will be an advantage.2-Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to evaluate data, identify risks, gaps, and emerging trends.3-Sales Support: Ability to work collaboratively with sales teams to drive new business by understanding market dynamics and underwriting guidelines.4-Team Player: Enthusiastic, collaborative, and ready to work in a fast-paced environment.
