Must have steel structural fabrication experience needed

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Supervision and Leadership :
• Lead and supervise a team of welders, ensuring they are working efficiently and adhering to company policies and safety standards.
• Assign welding tasks based on team members' skills and experience, balancing workloads and ensuring project timelines are met.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior or less-experienced welders.
• Monitor the performance of welders and provide constructive feedback to improve skills and work habits.
• Handle any conflict resolution or personnel issues within the welding team.
• Project Planning and Coordination :
• Plan and organize welding operations for specific projects, ensuring the right resources, tools, and equipment are available.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other department heads to ensure that welding specifications and requirements are understood and followed.
• Track project progress, ensuring welding milestones are met on time and within budget.
• Coordinate with other departments (such as assembly or fabrication) to ensure that welded components are integrated into the final product.
• Quality Control :
• Ensure all welding work meets quality standards, including inspecting completed welds for strength, appearance, and adherence to specifications.
• Conduct regular quality checks, such as visual inspections, X-ray tests, ultrasonic testing, and other methods as required.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any quality issues related to welding, such as defects or inconsistencies in welds.
• Maintain accurate records of weld inspections and non-conformance reports.
• Safety Management :
• Enforce strict adherence to safety standards and protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe operation of welding equipment, and safe working practices.
• Monitor work environments to ensure compliance with OSHA or local safety regulations.
• Organize and conduct safety training sessions and safety briefings for the welding team.
• Address and mitigate any potential safety hazards, ensuring a safe work environment at all times.
• Welding Process Optimization :
• Evaluate and optimize welding processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Recommend improvements to welding procedures, techniques, and equipment to increase productivity or enhance quality.
• Stay updated on the latest welding technologies, materials, and methods, and integrate them into the team's workflows when applicable.
• Equipment and Materials Management :
• Ensure that welding equipment is maintained and in good working condition, performing routine inspections and coordinating repairs as needed.
• Monitor inventory levels of welding supplies (e.g., electrodes, shielding gases, protective equipment) and ensure timely ordering of materials.
• Ensure welding machines are calibrated correctly and troubleshoot any mechanical issues.
• Documentation and Reporting :
• Maintain accurate records of welding operations, safety checks, inspections, and repairs.
• Prepare reports for upper management on project progress, team performance, and any issues or challenges.
• Document any incidents or accidents and ensure corrective actions are taken.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Skills :
• Advanced knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and welding codes (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick, and ARC welding).
• Familiarity with welding certifications and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO 9001).
• Strong understanding of blueprint reading and welding symbols.
• Ability to use and maintain welding tools and equipment.
• Leadership and Management :
• Strong leadership skills to motivate, direct, and manage a team.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with team members, management, and clients.
• Conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
• Experience with resource allocation and scheduling.
• Quality Control and Problem-Solving :
• Attention to detail in inspecting and verifying weld quality.
• Ability to identify issues in welding work and find solutions quickly.
• Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) and other quality assurance practices
