#### Job Purpose

Plan, implement and control all the Instrumentation maintenance activities of Viscose Plant to ensure optimum equipment availability within budgeted time and cost meeting the Safety and Environmental standards.

#### Job Context & Major Challenges

Job Context

Instrumentation plays a major role in power generation, steam generation and distribution for process control activities 2x100TPH Boilers & 1x20MW Turbo-Generator sets were commissioned in the year 2012 with increased automation and using State Of Art technology in field instrumentation and Control through the Distributed Control System. Highly automated Wagon Tippler (Erection in Progress) is also one of the major accomplishments.

The Boilers and Turbo generators are surrounded by dusty atmosphere, corrosion fumes. Most of the Electronic Hart based transmitters, Pressure Transmitters, Flow Transmitters, Oxygen Analysers, Dust monitoring system with pH & Conductivity analysers and Pneumatic control valves, Electronic positioners, Air dryer units for compressor installed during start up & are located in this atmosphere.

Many of the Electronic positioners and Bed thermocouples controlled by instruments are also installed which are most critical in application. Any failure of such instruments shall eventually stop the Generation of Power or Steam, hence Maintenance of the Equipment and the spares is very much essential & well maintained as spare for critical instruments

AFBC Boiler is supported by METSO DCS system having 1200 I/O's and the new CFBC boilers also with METSO DCS system is having 4000 I/O's. 20 MW TG is also equipped with METSO DCS system having 600 I/O's. All the Boiler & TG Instruments are very critical hence need to maintain the Instruments and also the spares.

Involved in full time for errection & commissioning of Distributed Control System(DCS) for AFBC boiler in the year of 2006 at power plant ,

Involved in fulltime EPC project & also New DCS system for CFBC Boilers 1 & 2, 1x20 MW TG,New PLC system is introduced for Coal plant belt weigher systems in the year of 2013

Major Challenges

? Maintaining daily function for Distributed control system (DCS) in log report & if any malfunction the same is noticed to supplier

? Maintaining Pneumatic and Electronic outdated Instruments in Boiler and Turbine.

? Upgradation of Backup controller by modification of control wiring based on the technological developments made by various suppliers

? Maintaining of Electronic and Pneumatic Instruments from dust, corrosion and fire prone area.

? Developing workforce on high technological developments having lower level of technical trade competency.

? Introducing the new technology available in the instrumentation filed & same is adopting in our plant to get better efficiency & good quality of production,

? Project Execution Planning, Project Document Review, Erection , Commissioning, Pre- Commissioning & trouble Shooting of DCS, Field Instruments, loop checking of complete C&I package ( DCS, field instruments etc) ,

? Maintaining of Engineering Documents, P&ID review, & Technical Data sheet review, Control scheme , loops, Interlock scheme.

? Erection, Commissioning, Maintenance and calibration of Field Instruments & Transducers, i.e. Pressure Transmitters Differential pressure Transmitters, Temperature Transmitters, Level

Transmitters, Level Switches, Pressure Switches and D.P. Switches , PG, TG, DG, Pneumatic

Actuators, MOV, Instrument & DCS, UPS, SWAS PANEL, Vibration Monitoring System,

PDB , JB Erection, Control signal wiring, loop Checking,
