A service advisor's responsibilities include:
• Customer service Greeting customers, answering their questions, and addressing their concerns.
• Technical translation Explaining complex vehicle issues to customers in a way they can understand.
• Estimates Providing cost estimates and timelines for repairs or maintenance.
• Communication Communicating repair updates to customers, and keeping them informed on completion times, service expenses, and possible changes.
• Sales Driving the sale of technicians' time to meet the department's sales forecast. This can include upselling additional services and products.
• Customer satisfaction Ensuring customer satisfaction through follow-up after completion of services.
• Automotive knowledge Using automotive knowledge when ordering parts, looking over documentation, or communicating with technicians.
• Active listening Paying close attention to what customers are saying and asking clarifying questions.
• Positive attitude Maintaining a positive and professional demeanor, even in challenging situations.
