Introduction:
Management and coordination of the x86 platform estate. This includes server hardware installs, moves, additions, issue remediation and changes to multiple sites, offices and data centres and advanced hands-on configuration of infrastructure systems
Communicates with the business to define project scope and priorities
What will you be doing?
Delivering changes to the infrastructure in support of client requirements
Contributing to the development and implementation of policies and standards
Interfacing with internal stakeholders, engaging with 3rd party suppliers, participation in service meetings
Undertaking work outside of direct responsibility when required, including some/all of the following:
Maintaining server allocation details for new and re-use servers
Allocate server names and IP addresses to internal project managers and support teams
Managing the end-to-end server installation / move / configuration process
Interfacing with Hardware Delivery Services \xe2\x80\x93 Procurement Team in procurement process
Interfacing with GDS Build Team in build process
Engagement at mobilisation phase with projects to provide advice and agree hardware requirements and timelines
Raising appropriate requests for server installation, moves, additions, configuration and changes
Raising Change Requests using change management tool
Identification, implementation, development and automation of new processes that operations are and will be responsible for
Applies feedback and challenges behaviours accordingly
Encourages knowledge sharing
What we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for:
Basic understanding of data centre technologies, such as SAN, LAN/WAN networks, Blades Servers
Basic knowledge of x86 platform
Good verbal and written communication skills
Willing to work flexible hours (early morning / late nights) in order to resolve issues with help from employees in other regions
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic issues in the above technologies
Ability to strictly adhere to defined processes and procedures
Good time management skills
Fluency in English is essential
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
Educated to degree level or equivalent experience, with proven ability to work within a Project-related IT function.
Skills that will help you in the role:
Good understanding of concepts of service delivery and support
Understanding of project disciplines and life-cycle
Understanding of ITIL processes and associated concepts
Ability to use MS Word and Excel
Working knowledge of ITIL
Knowledge about scripting or Ansible
IT Support background
Ideally, the jobholder would have experience of the Financial Services Industry
Training in communication techniques and handling of challenging interpersonal situations
Technical Knowledge
Good working knowledge of Redhat Linux installation
Troubleshooting on Linux for TCP/IP, Storage and drivers related issues
Patch management and updates using yum
Knowledge for Windows Server
Service Delivery and Support
Good understanding of concepts of service delivery and support
Solid experience of operating large scale PMO Environments with highly demanding clients

Understands the needs and challenges of stakeholders involved in projects, and can negotiate satisfactory resolution to complex issues surrounding creation and implementation of technology solutions

Able to lead presentation of solutions and options to business, chair discussions and meetings, and construct clear document packs.
