Employment Type PermanentClosing Date 19 July 2024 11:59pmJob Title Senior Test EngineerJob Summary The Senior Network Test Engineer plays a key role to ensuring that any device, application and/or change to the network delivers an outstanding customer experience You lead business and product verification testing of end to end solutions prior to deployment; unit testing of complete product lifecycles; and ensure that devices are compatible with the network, without degrading the customer experience of other devices on the network.The Senior Network Test Engineer uses deep expertise in planning, designing, automating and conducting testing across a wide range of network technologies. You collaborate and partner with internal technical teams and external suppliers/partners, to ensure testing is completed according to plan, and all new and existing Telstra products, systems, platforms and networks perform to the highest standard.

  • As a Senior Test Specialist, you draw on your breadth of knowledge and expertise in related areas of network engineering and actively apply Agile ways of working to deliver the responsibilities.
  • Prior to the test execution phase:
  • Prepare the Test Strategy, Test Plan document and Test cases as per the business/technical requirements and identify the manual and automation test cases to be implemented to deliver repeatable testing and measurable quality improvements.
  • Co-ordinate with the Integration Engineer for the lab build activities.
  • During test execution:
  • Perform and manage manual testing and automated test cases as per the business/technical requirements and implemented to deliver repeatable testing and measurable quality improvements.
  • Co-ordinate with the Integration Engineer for any support required in the lab for the test execution.
  • Consult with development leads and other stakeholders as required to ensure that effective manual and automated testing is embedded in the design and development of our products.
  • Coordinate scheduling for network or system integration testing; and communicate with testing partners when there are multiple systems and development teams involved.
  • Raise Defects and co-ordinate with the relevant stakeholders to get them to resolution.
  • Supervise and effectively communicate testing outcomes and quality assessments in a timely manner aiming to achieve the network solution objectives with high quality.
  • After test execution:
  • Capture and detail the outcome of test executions and all information needed to support ongoing measurements and reporting on risks, defects, issues, and tests coverage against the business/technical requirements provided in the Test Summary report.
  • Active participation and execution of Mission\xe2\x80\x99s Agile ways of working.
  • Network Migrations (including writing and reviewing Change Implementation Plan and the Method of Procedure document).
  • Perform approved and planned network changes and network deployment activities during and after business hours.
  • Diagnose and restore network issues to ensure that networks, infrastructure, products and services work efficiently and reliably (BAU & Rostered) - during business hours (as part of Routines) and after hours (as part of Recall) as per business requirement.
Essential
  • 8+ years of experience in Network and System Integration Testing programs in medium to large integration environments.
  • Sound understanding of technology and solution lifecycle and how it is managed.
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of non-functional and functional testing capabilities.
  • Experience in large scale-out infrastructures working knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of testing processes and systems together with demonstrated ability to prioritise and make appropriate judgements
  • Solid understanding and experience with Cisco and Juniper routing and switching, and standard protocols like
  • OSI Layers, TCP/IP protocol suite
  • Network protocols (eg Ethernet, VLAN, Service OAM, DHCP , RSVP ,Segment Routing, OSFP, ISIS, MPLS, RSVP, LDP, BGP, MPBGP , VPLS, VPWS, L2/L3 VPN).
  • Network packet queuing (QoS, CoS, Hierarchical QoS)
  • Hands-on experience on traffic generators like IXIA and Spirent
  • Hands-on experience on Cisco Platforms like NCS55A2, NCS540, MRV NTUs (OSv8, OS9244), ME3400
  • Expert knowledge of Network Engineering including:
  • Carrier Ethernet Services (E-Line, E-Access, E-Tree, E-LAN)
  • Technical knowledge of software defined networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualisation (NFV)
  • Sound technical knowledge of Ethernet Aggregation technologies (MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0, IP, Ethernet Evolution, Wideband IP, Strategic Ethernet Platform, Regional Ethernet Aggregation Network).
Highly desirable
  • Understanding of Agile ways of working.
  • Testing certification such as ISTQB or equivalent.
  • Experience with ROBOT Framework and Python is recommended.
  • Experience in NSO (Network Service Orchestration) is desirable.
  • Experience in IT systems like SUPERDAM , IP-RDM , T-LIVE , CRAMER-LI , T&DM is highly desirable.
