Job Description

A Senior CT/MRI Technician is responsible for operating computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to create diagnostic images for medical evaluation. This role involves advanced technical skills, patient care, and the ability to lead and mentor junior technicians. The Senior CT/MRI Technician ensures the highest quality imaging and patient safety standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Imaging Procedures:
• Operate CT and MRI equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
• Perform complex imaging procedures, including contrast studies and advanced imaging sequences.
• Ensure proper patient positioning and equipment settings for optimal image quality.
• Patient Care:
• Explain procedures to patients, addressing any concerns or questions.
• Monitor patients during procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
• Administer contrast agents as required, observing for any adverse reactions.
• Technical Skills:
• Calibrate and maintain imaging equipment, troubleshooting technical issues.
• Keep up-to-date with advancements in imaging technology and techniques.
• Adhere to radiation safety protocols and MRI safety guidelines.
• Team Leadership:
• Mentor and train junior CT/MRI technicians and other radiology staff.
• Coordinate workflow and manage scheduling to ensure efficient operations.
• Assist in the development and implementation of department policies and procedures.
• Quality Control:
• Review images for accuracy and diagnostic quality, making adjustments as necessary.
• Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with regulations.
• Collaboration:
• Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Communicate effectively with the medical team regarding findings and any issues encountered during imaging procedures.
• Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including HIPAA.
• Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations affecting radiology practices.

Qualifications:

• Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
• Certification: DRT (Diploma of Radiologic Technologists) certification in CT and MRI.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CT/MRI Technician, with demonstrated proficiency in both modalities.
• Skills:
• Strong technical skills in operating CT and MRI equipment.
• Excellent patient care and communication abilities.
• Leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment:

• The position typically requires working in a hospital, imaging center, or diagnostic laboratory.
• Shift work, including nights and weekends, may be required.
• Physical demands include standing for long periods, moving and positioning patients, and handling imaging equipment.
