In this way, you are helping to shape the way for an interesting and challenging work life.You will join our Marine Structures team in ChennaiAs our new Senior Structural Engineer in the Marine structures team, you will be part of a highly specialized service line in Ramboll Energy that counts more than 70 employees primarily located in Denmark and India. Our service line has +40 years of design experience within the offshore field and is world-leading in designing monopiles or jackets for the offshore wind market, reassessment and lifetime extensions of aging platforms, and structural health monitoring including true digital twins of offshore structures in general.We cover all aspects of a project, which within Greenfield design includes feasibilities and concept studies, front-end engineering design, detailed design, and follow-up engineering. The projects you will be working on are executed from the office and will often involve multiple specialists in different fields.

We are a global team and execute projects worldwide, you may expect a little travel activity from time to time.You will be reporting to your Team Lead in the Chennai office.Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • New design of offshore structures (jackets and monopiles) incl. input for 3D and 2D drafting
  • Lead team of Engineers and Designers for projects at Concept/FEED/Detail Design phase
  • Reassessment and lifetime extension of aging offshore platforms
  • Advanced global analyses of the full structural system (SACS and/or ROSAP)
  • Design of structural details
  • Preparation of installation and/or removal procedures
  • Act as a technical mentor for younger colleagues and help them to grow their knowledge within the design of offshore substructure

  • B.E. / M.E. / B. Tech. / M. Tech in civil or offshore engineering (from reputable university)
  • Minimum 10 years of design experience within the design of offshore substructures (primarily jackets and monopiles), preferable from the offshore wind industry
  • Full understanding of what it takes to design, analyse, and document an offshore substructure according to the prevailing codes in the offshore industry, primarily within offshore wind
  • Minimum 4+ years of experiences as lead/senior engineer in making feasibility studies, concept design, FEED, and detailed design of offshore structures (jacket and monopile).
  • Huge experience in setting up and execute global analyses for structural design of jackets and/or monopiles, and secondary steel design by means of hand calculations
  • Hands on experience with the following codes: ISO19902, API, DNV, NORSOK etc.
  • Able to select the appropriate analysis type to be applied for a structural problem i.e., the ability to choose the best solution strategy: linear/nonlinear FEM, hand calculations or engineering judgement etc.
  • Huge insight in the geotechnical aspects related to offshore substructure design
  • Experience with finite element analysis of structural parts in program ANSYS and LS-DYNA
  • Substantial experience with structural analysis program SACS and preferable also ROSAP
  • Able to check if a potential overstressed member has adequate resistance via desk calculations using Mathcad and Microsoft Excel. Knowledge in Python/VB macros (preferred)
  • Superior communication skills in English, both oral and written

  • The desire to learn and use Ramboll\'s in house software named ROSAP for structural design
  • Ensure that Ramboll\'s Code of Conduct, values and quality assurance system is followed all time
  • Capable of making:
  • In-place analysis (incl. VIV, check of grouted connection etc.)
  • Installation analyses i.e., sea transportation, load out, lift and on-bottom
  • Wave induced fatigue analysis (Deterministic & Spectral)
  • Ship impact & pushover analysis
  • Seismic/earthquake analysis
  • Reinforcement/reassessment of existing jackets (clamps, grouted joints, etc.,)
  • Cathodic protection design
  • Grillage and sea fastening design
  • CTR\'s (cost- time- and resource estimates) for tenders globally.
  • Weight report and MTO
