• Your New Role :

As a Senior Storage Engineer, you will be an expert designing, implementing, and maintaining our company's enterprise storage platforms which enable critical media and non-media workflows. You will create robust and scalable solutions that meet the company's data storage, protection, and recovery needs. Your expertise will help guide the management of our SAN, NAS, and backup and recovery storage systems with a focus on optimizing performance, capacity planning, and ensuring four nines of availability; We are responsible for supporting a large range of business stakeholders and workloads using multi-PB enterprise storage solutions. The senior storage engineer will bring a high-level of expertise in the administration of various storage technologies including block storage, file storage, object storage, and associated SAN switching fabrics. A thorough understanding of advanced storage technologies, protocols (iSCSI, NFS, SMB/CIFS), advanced networking, and hardware (EMC, NetApp, Hitachi, Dell, Pure) is necessary in this role. You will be responsible for all areas of the storage development lifecycle including management, planning, provisioning, triage, monitoring, and decommissioning of storage volumes and associated hardware. You will document solutions ensuring best practices are followed and update stakeholders related to infrastructure changes. You will partner with peers and management staff on capacity planning analysis and monitoring methodologies. You must have a deep working knowledge of storage virtualization, storage management software, Fibre-Channel, Ethernet, zoning, and masking. This position involves support of storage technologies and end-users across various Warner Bros. Discovery locations across the globe.

Your Role Accountabilities:

Engineering/Primary Responsibilities

• Design, install, configure, and manage storage area networks (SAN), network attached storage (NAS), and associated fibre-channel switching fabrics (Brocade/Cisco MDS)..
• Implement, manage, and support backup and recovery software (Veritas NetBackup, CommVault, Veeam)
• Translate business requirements to determine an appropriate storage solution.
• Handle Tier 3 (complex) issues providing advanced support and triage of end-to-end storage platforms; Works with the vendor as needed.
• Tune storage systems and server operating systems to increase performance and reliability of data.
• Provision and configure storage volumes, disk pools, raid groups, over various storage systems (EMC, Hitachi, NetApp, Dell, Pure)
• Assist with critical patching and vulnerability remediations on storage arrays and subsystems.
• Create and maintain documentation. Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and latest technology trends
• Participates in all storage integration design sessions.
• Other duties and projects as assigned and in a timely fashion.

Operations

• Perform regular monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of all storage solution and backup/restore technologies to ensure performance, capacity, and four nines reliability; accepts ownership and seeks timely resolution.
• Collaborates with developers and other stakeholders to ensure software is performing correctly and efficiently utilizing best practices.
• Automate systems administration tasks utilizing open-source configuration management tools.
• Ensure the highest levels of up-time; Respond to alerts quickly ensuring that all aspects of our storage infrastructure are at production levels.
• Implement and use monitoring tools, patch management tools, and storage management tools.
• Must be willing to accommodate weekend, shift, or on-call schedules when necessary.

Analytics

• Develop comprehensive performance analysis of business processes and review ways of improvement.
• Actively participate in stakeholder meetings with the goal of understanding all major projects and initiatives planned.
• Design and implement backup, disaster recovery or business continuity strategies

Qualifications & Experiences:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
• Candidate must possess 5-8 years of experience in either a Storage Administration or Engineering role.
• Deep understanding of storage technologies and protocols ( i.e. iSCSI, NFS, SMB/CIFS) and hardware (EMC, NetApp, Dell, Pure)
• Familiarity with backup and recovery software (i.e. Veeam, CommVault, NetBackup, Dell DPS)
• Knowledge of networking concepts such as Fibre-Channel, Ethernet, zoning, and masking
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (i.e. VMware ESXi, HyperV)
• Advanced knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
• Candidates should have a passion for scripting/coding automation tools and technologies that improve storage infrastructure and provisioning.
• Proven track record in managing complex storage environments with SAN, NAS, and object storage solutions.
• Knowledge and/or ability to comply with change management processes.
• The candidate must have excellent communications skills to be successful.
• Ability to organize information and produce technical documentation for operational effectiveness.
• Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations.
• Position requires after hours support for outages/impairments. Candidates will participate in a 24x7 on call support rotation.

Not Required but preferred experience:

• Familiarity with Amazon AWS or Azure Cloud environments (hybrid-storage)
• Relevant storage certifications (i.e. NetApp Certified Data Administrator) or similar.
• Experience with enterprise storage in a media broadcast environment.
