Position Title: Senior Splunk Engineer

Location: REMOTE

Work Time: EST Time 8 AM-5 PM i.e. 5:30 pm to 2:30 am IST

Employment Type: Long-Term Contract

Annual Salary: - DOE

Primary Responsibilities
As a Senior Splunk Engineer, you will be a crucial member of our IT team, responsible for the design, implementation, and management of Splunk solutions. Your expertise in Splunk operations and your ability to handle day-to-day tasks within the tool will be essential in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our IT infrastructure.

Key Tasks:
Splunk Design and Implementation:

• Architect, deploy, and manage Splunk infrastructure, including indexers, search heads, and forwarders.
• Develop and maintain Splunk configurations, dashboards, and reports to meet the needs of various stakeholders.

Operational Management:

• Monitor and manage the health and performance of Splunk environments.
• Perform regular maintenance tasks such as upgrades, patching, and data retention management.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Splunk performance, indexing, and searches.

Data Onboarding and Integration:

• Work with various teams to onboard data sources into Splunk, ensuring data integrity and proper parsing.
• Develop and maintain data ingestion pipelines, including the creation of custom log formats and parsers.

Security and Compliance:

• Implement best practices for security monitoring, including the setup of alerts and incident response workflows.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations by implementing appropriate controls and monitoring mechanisms.

Optimization and Automation:

• Continuously optimize Splunk configurations and search for improved performance and efficiency.
• Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline Splunk operations and reduce manual intervention.

Collaboration and Support:

• Provide guidance and support to junior Splunk engineers and other IT team members.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their requirements and deliver tailored Splunk solutions.
• Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate stakeholders on the effective use of Splunk.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of Splunk configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Generate regular reports on Splunk usage, performance, and security metrics for management review.

Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

Professional Experience:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 plus years of hands-on experience in Splunk engineering and administration.
• Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing large-scale Splunk environments.

Technical Proficiency

• Expertise in Splunk Enterprise, including architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation purposes.
• Familiarity with various data formats (JSON, XML, CSV) and data parsing techniques.
• In-depth knowledge of network protocols, security best practices, and log management.

Certifications (It would be a real bonus if you have):
Splunk Certified Administrator and Splunk Certified Architect certifications are highly desirable.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
