The Principal Architectural / Structural Engineer position is currently available at the Air Products Vadodara, IN office.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

We are seeking a talented Architectural / Structural Engineer with experience in leading large scale and complex projects covering a wide range and sizes of industrial type applications; Air Separation Units (ASU), Hydrogen Processing Units, Process Gases & Gasification Units, Petrochemical and Power Plant facilities, and Technology improvements. We provide support and liaison to global manufacturing facilities and construction sites.

The purpose of this role is to integrate or align the facility and building requirements determined by Process Safety, Local Code, Industry Practices, and property Risk Insurers to properly incorporate the requirements into tangible and cost effective Civil-Structural design packages and/or vendor specifications.

The role of this position is a key leadership role and being responsible for the daily coordination and oversight of a 3rd party EP team during the FEED, conceptual and detail engineering phase of a project.

The applicant must be well versed in industrial buildings associated with the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical and Power industry integrated with operating equipment & machinery, piping systems, and utilities to increase efficiency and decrease costs. The design of facility buildings must adhere to industrial ventilation requirements for the safe operation of equipment within occupied and non-occupied enclosures.

Working knowledge of hazardous area provisions and occupancy classification of common industrial codes is necessary. Evaluating area for safe egress requirements from open spaces as well as building and occupied enclosures. Knowledge of alarm & monitoring systems, firefighting, plumbing, lighting, sanitary, HVAC, and control systems is also highly preferred.

Working knowledge of fire protection systems, fire stops & dampers, shut-off systems, fire wall requirements in compliance with industry code. The Architectural / Structural Engineer will align with multiple functions including Civil-Structural, Process Safety, Piping & Layout, Mechanical, HVAC, Electrical & Instrumentation etc.

Liaison with Project Management, Operations, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Construction teams is required.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Review and develop project scope and execution strategies, including developing multicenter execution strategies involving other Air Products regions and offices
• Ensure adherence to basis of design for buildings, design criteria, and design concepts
• Ensure adherence to contract specification, standards, and other contract documents
• Ensure adherence to deliverable list(s)
• Ensure adherence to facility requirements from Process Safety and Fire Prevention Engineer. Assist Process Safety team to evaluate the Plot Plan and advise on safe, reliable, and cost-effective tangible construction strategies
• Manage Schedule of Deliverable checkpoints
• Perform Progress assessment / metrics
• Apply Management of Change
• Perform Checking and Approval process
• Documentation control and record retention
• Review of Detailed Design deliverables produced by third party or vendors
• Review conformance of deliverables with project specifications, standards, and contract documents
• EPC Oversight: Assist to create & implement oversight strategies of EPC scope execution and deliverables
• Attend project & group meetings
• Can interface efficiently with other disciplines and Project Engineering Management

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors or master\'s in civil engineering or Architectural with 15+ Years of experience. Master\'s in specialized field and site experience will be an added advantage
• Structural and Architectural knowledge of Building Design
• Experience working on Industrial Plant and Non-Plant Buildings (e.g., electrical sub-station (PDC), warehouse, workshop, equipment housing shelter, compressor house, Instrument Control Building, Plant Control Building, Administration Building, Fire Station, Security Building etc.)
• Proven leadership work experience from an EPC and EPCM company.
• Must be able to demonstrate leadership experience and skills including interfacing with global teams
• Experience in building concepts and layouts for site built and modular buildings of various sizes and services
• Knowledge of Materials, architectural finishes, construction techniques, and building codes
• Hands on experience of working on 3D modelling (BIM), extraction and composition of GA & Detail drawings from 3D model, interface of 3D modelling (BIM) with other modelling software
• Preparation / Review of 2D conceptual and detail drawings
• Preparation / Review of Building Bill of Material & MTO
• Experience in interdisciplinary model checks, clash run and resolving the clashes
• Familiar with current BIM standards and should be able to work minimum with LOD 300
• Familiar with managing technical interfaces with other disciplines regarding building design
• Conceptual design of soundproof walls, blast, and explosion proof building requirements
• Knowledge of Plant Landscaping and Green Belt design
• Architectural layout for buildings, interior and furniture design to serve the required purpose.
• Experience / knowledge on building HVAC system design / Lighting and Ventilation, MEP, and plumbing Design
• Identify and resolve conflict in 3D model environment
• Experience of producing highly detailed and accurate construction drawings and 3D Modelling
• Multi-office project experience, including international/domestic project customers / locations.
• Global Execution Experience specifically in North America, Canada, Middle East, and Europe
• Work experience in cold countries e.g., Canada, Russia is preferred
• Proficient of industry accepted codes: IBC, IFC, IPC, IRC, IMC, ASCE 7, AISC Steel Construction Manual, AWS, NFPA 67, NFPA 68, NFPA 69, NFPA 70, MBMA, ACGIH
• Software Proficiency: Expert - Autodesk - Revit, AutoCAD, SPR, Navisworks; Familiarity - ArchiCAD, MicroStation, Tekla, Smart 3D (S3D), Civil 3D
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
