One Data Streaming Platform.Data Connects Us.About the Role:The Cloud Applications team is at the forefront of building applications in data streaming, processing, governance and delivers them in the cloud through world class customer experiences. With a vision centered on innovation and excellence, this team is critical to advancing Confluent\'s Data in Motion initiative and is committed to supplying the industry with solutions that cater to evolving stream processing demands.What You Will Do:

• Design, develop and maintain Iceberg metadata that sources from Kafka.
• Enable efficient SQL queries on the Iceberg metadata.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with BYOB and data processing engines like Snowflake, AWS Glue, Apache Spark etc.
• Optimize data ingestion and query performance.
• Ensure data integrity, consistency and security across the data pipeline.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to drive innovation within the team.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.

What You Will Bring:

• BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• 3+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on data engineering and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of Apache Iceberg, Apache Kafka and SQL.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure and GCP.
• A self starter with the ability to work effectively in teams.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Java, Scala, C/C++, Go or other statically typed languages.

What Gives You an Edge:

• Experience working with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Knowledge of data security and compliance best practices.
• Contribution to open-source projects related to data engineering.
