• Bring clarity for low-medium ambiguity areas, create energy within the team, and delivery business results. Be a role model and mentor for team members

• Collaborate across boundaries with Product and Engineering to create compelling first-party integrations that demonstrate the value of our product in business processes and experiences

• Own architecting of solutions, with minimal technical oversight. Lead the engineering workstreams with other engineers.

• Role model for quality via testing & quality culture - add new tests, remove antiquated tests, and aggregate tests to improve the test suite. Drive efforts to continually integrate automation features when planning for testing.

• Apply metrics to drive the quality and stability of code, as well as appropriate coding patterns and best practices.

• Conduct retrospective debugging of solutions to identify root causes of problems.

• Organize work into smaller sets of tasks as part of an overall roadmap. Creates and updates implementation framework as necessary, following industry standards.

• Alert stakeholders as to status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple problems and complex problems when appropriate.

• Drive efforts to collect, classify, and analyze data on a range of metrics.

• Drive efforts to ensure the correct processes are followed to achieve a high degree of security, privacy, safety, and accessibility.

• Apply and extrapolate best practices to reliably build code that is based on well-established methods while also applying best practices for new code development.

• Maintain communication with key partners across the Microsoft ecosystem of engineers.

• Constantly learn and grow as an engineer and leader in the organization

Qualifications:

• Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or related field. Previous experience with web services, storage, cloud computing, and large scale systems is a plus.

• 8+ years of experience with designing, implementing, debugging and launching commercial software products or web services

• A strong collaborator - you can explain your work, ask good questions, listen to your peers & your customers, and you like to give and receive feedback. Willing to leverage and build on top of the work of others to quickly meet customers and engineers needs - including adopting standard cloud capabilities and toolsets

• Experience in systems side of software development. Thorough understanding of computer science fundamentals, architecture, memory models, and algorithms design. Proven ability to design and create componentized, well-architected software which can scale.

• Showcase that it is not enough to write working code. It must also be well-designed, secure, easy to test, easy to monitor in the cloud, and easy to extend to over time. Be part of the live site culture and drive data driven improvements to both product quality and engineering efficiency

• Excellent knowledge of Java/JavaScript/C#/REST Services/C++

• Customer obsession, passion for technology & strong analytical skills
