Job Summary:The Senior Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBG) is responsible for providing comprehensive care to women, focusing on pregnancy, childbirth, and reproductive health. The role involves managing both outpatient and inpatient cases, performing obstetric and gynecological procedures, and participating in the education and supervision of junior residents and medical students. The Senior Resident is expected to develop expertise in a wide range of OBG practices and contribute to the department\'s clinical and academic mission. Key Responsibilities:Obstetric Care:

• Manage normal and high-risk pregnancies, providing prenatal care, labor and delivery management, and postpartum care.
• Perform and assist in deliveries, including vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and instrumental deliveries.
• Handle obstetric emergencies such as preterm labor, preeclampsia, and postpartum hemorrhage.
• Provide care for patients with pregnancy complications, including gestational diabetes, hypertension, and fetal growth restrictions.

Gynecological Care:

• Diagnose and treat a variety of gynecological conditions, including menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, and infertility.
• Perform routine gynecological exams, including pap smears, and provide preventive care.
• Conduct gynecological procedures such as colposcopy, hysteroscopy, and minor surgical procedures.
• Provide family planning services, including contraceptive counseling and procedures.

Surgical Care:

• Assist in and perform gynecological surgeries, including cesarean sections, hysterectomies, and laparoscopic surgeries under supervision.
• Manage post-operative care, monitor patient recovery, and address any complications.

Inpatient and Outpatient Management:

• Oversee the care of patients in the obstetrics and gynecology wards, including daily rounds, patient progress monitoring, and discharge planning.
• Manage outpatient clinics, providing routine care, antenatal care, and follow-up for post-operative patients.
• Participate in the on-call rotation to handle obstetric and gynecological emergencies.

Teaching and Mentorship:

• Supervise and mentor junior residents, interns, and medical students during their rotations in OBG.
• Lead clinical teaching sessions, case discussions, and workshops focused on obstetric and gynecological care.
• Provide feedback and guidance to trainees to enhance their clinical and surgical skills.

Research and Academic Activities:

• Participate in clinical research projects related to obstetrics and gynecology, contributing to advancements in women\'s health care.
• Present research findings at departmental meetings, conferences, and in peer-reviewed journals.
• Engage in academic activities, including seminars, journal clubs, and continuing medical education (CME) sessions.

Professional Development:

• Stay updated with the latest developments in obstetrics and gynecology through ongoing professional development and training.
• Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and certification courses to enhance professional skills.

Qualifications:Education:

• M.B.B.S. and M.S./D.N.B. (Obstetrics and Gynecology) or an equivalent postgraduate qualification from a recognized institution.

Experience:

• Completion of a residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology, with experience in managing a variety of obstetric and gynecological conditions.
• Prior experience in teaching and supervising junior medical staff is desirable.

Skills:

• Proficiency in obstetric and gynecological procedures, including surgical skills.
• Strong clinical judgment with the ability to manage complex and high-risk cases.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient-centered care.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in conducting and publishing clinical research in obstetrics and gynecology.
