Job Summary:The Senior Resident in Gynecology (Obstetrics and Gynecology) is responsible for providing comprehensive care to women, including the management of pregnancy, childbirth, and reproductive health issues. The role involves performing gynecological procedures, managing both outpatient and inpatient cases, and participating in the education and supervision of junior residents and medical students. The Senior Resident is expected to develop expertise in a range of obstetric and gynecological practices and contribute to the clinical and academic mission of the department. Key Responsibilities:Patient Care:

• Conduct thorough assessments of patients, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations related to obstetrics and gynecology.
• Manage normal and high-risk pregnancies, including prenatal care, labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
• Perform gynecological procedures, including pap smears, colposcopies, hysteroscopies, and laparoscopic surgeries under supervision.
• Diagnose and manage gynecological conditions such as menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, and infertility.
• Provide family planning services, including contraceptive counseling and procedures.

Inpatient and Outpatient Management:

• Oversee the care of hospitalized patients in the obstetrics and gynecology wards, including daily rounds, progress notes, and discharge planning.
• Manage outpatient clinics, providing routine gynecological care, antenatal care, and follow-up for post-operative patients.
• Respond to obstetric and gynecological emergencies, including ectopic pregnancies, miscarriages, and preterm labor.

Surgical Care:

• Assist in and perform surgeries, including cesarean sections, hysterectomies, and other gynecological surgeries, under the guidance of attending physicians.
• Provide post-operative care, monitor recovery, and manage any complications that arise.

Teaching and Mentorship:

• Supervise and mentor junior residents, interns, and medical students during their rotations in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department.
• Lead clinical teaching sessions, case presentations, and skills workshops focused on obstetric and gynecological procedures.
• Provide feedback and guidance to trainees to enhance their clinical and surgical skills.

Research and Academic Activities:

• Participate in clinical research projects related to obstetrics and gynecology, contributing to advancements in women\'s health care.
• Present research findings at departmental meetings, conferences, and in peer-reviewed journals.
• Engage in academic activities, including seminars, journal clubs, and continuing medical education (CME) sessions.

Professional Development:

• Stay updated on the latest developments in obstetrics and gynecology through ongoing professional development and training.
• Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and certification courses to enhance professional skills.

Qualifications:Education:

• M.B.B.S. and M.S./D.N.B. (Obstetrics and Gynecology) or an equivalent postgraduate qualification from a recognized institution.

Experience:

• Completion of a residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology, with experience in managing a variety of obstetric and gynecological conditions.
• Prior experience in teaching and supervising junior medical staff is desirable.

Skills:

• Proficiency in obstetric and gynecological procedures, including surgical skills.
• Strong clinical judgment with the ability to manage complex and high-risk cases.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient-centered care.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in conducting and publishing clinical research in obstetrics and gynecology.
