Senior Research Engineer 2 for Magnetron coatingSummary:Saint Gobain, a global leader in construction material business, is looking for young engineer with PhD in Material science/ Physics with 3-5 years of experience in new product development, process projects etc. Candidate should have experience in characterization of multilayer thin film, light matter interaction etc. The role will be to design new product and develop competencies to check robustness of the products.Responsibilities:Responsible for magnetron product development related activities at Saint-Gobain Research India.
Engage with multiple stakeholders, understand their requirements, define project scope, and drive the project.
Should be able to manage multiple projects (locally and globally) and drive strategic projects with minimal supervision.
Optical thin film characterization and modelling.
Carry out projects independently or in collaboration with competency teams, universities, or other research organization to develop understanding of deposition condition vs material-property correlation and overall impact on multi-layer thin film.
Support competency teams and project leaders in new product development projects and other fundamental studies.
Ability to connect with business and understand the market needs to build a strong pipeline of products.
Participate in lab activities and implementation of 5S.Desired Skills and Experience:PhD in Material Science Engg/ Physics/solid-state chemistry with 3-5 years of experience.
Understanding of vacuum plasma deposition processes, optical materials, multilayer material characterization, will be advantageous.
Experience in optical thin film modelling is desirable.
Prior experience in the project management will be a plus.
Global mindset, ability to work with cross functional teams and closely working with competency teams.
Willing to travel on need basis to manufacturing plants and R&D centers across the globe (up to 30%).
