Job Description


WRI India is looking for a Senior Program Associate to facilitate a impactful program on Energy for Equitable Development to inform policy, planning, design and finance for energy efficient equipment and appliances at the national, sub-national and local levels You will scope out the role of energy efficiency in making access to energy affordable and reliable by focusing on 2 sectors- health and livelihoods You will conduct research and engage with partners to understand the contribution of energy efficiency in appliances, buildings and systems in weak grid/underserved regions in India in improving the reliability, affordability and quality of energy services You will be responsible for research, project delivery and engaging with important partners How you day will unfold: Undertake research on energy efficient appliances in the health and livelihoods sectors using primary and secondary research. Analyse international policies, programs , schemes and procurement practices on adopting energy efficient appliances, equipment and services. Identify potential opportunities and barriers for integrating energy efficiency in energy access and distributed renewable energy policies, programs , schemes and projects Partner engagement at global, national and state level from public sector, civil society, private sector and international agencies. Convene team members to understand barriers and opportunities to integrating energy efficiency with access to clean energy in the health and livelihoods sectors. Produce high-quality research products and data visualisations to inform partners and create awareness in policy makers. Conduct trainings, capacity building sessions, workshops, consultations to build capacity and engage with partners Stay updated on the policy landscape, sectoral developments, and industry trends about energy efficiency topics in the country and WRI s focus geographies outside of India. Data collection and analysis from diverse sources Support team coordination in other tasks and as determined by the program lead. We would have to ask you to travel within India for moderate amount. Requirements and skills that we seek: Education: Master s degree in engineering, technology, economics, policy, environmental science or similar fields. Experience: You have 4-7 years of full-time relevant work experience including research experience in the energy efficiency sector. You have some technical understanding of energy efficient products and understand the policy and regulatory landscape of energy efficiency in India. You have basic knowledge of energy equipment used in the health sector and agriculture-based livelihoods. Experience carrying out energy savings calculations and application of multiple cost benefit methods. You have good qualitative and quantitative analyses skills, including high-level of proficiency in MS excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) and other data visualisation tools. You have prior experience engaging with government nodal department for energy efficiency, and engagement with private sector and civil society. You have demonstrated research skills including experience in data analysis, developing methodologies for primary and secondary data collection, ethical research protocols and publishing research You have experience ensuring delivery of outputs You have experience presenting complex information in written and verbal formats. You can write and want to write research publications. Language: You are proficient in spoken and written English. Any other language proficiency
