Arcadis is looking for a Process Design Wastewater Engineer (Industrial Biological Wastewater Treatment Engineer) to join our Industrial Water team to support design of aerobic and anaerobic wastewater treatment systems!
In this role, you will utilize your expertise, technical knowledge, and client relationships to successfully execute projects for a variety of industries including Food & Beverage, Life Science, Pulp & Paper, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Aerospace, Automotive, Technology. Projects ranging from feasibility studies through detailed design and construction support. Experience working within front-end loading project delivery models is key for many of our projects and clients. Depending on the project, you will be expected fill one or more roles including technical project manager, design manager, process and/or process mechanical lead (wastewater), and/or quality reviewer.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor engineers and serve as a line manager within the Industrial Water group
Role accountabilities:
The Process Design Wastewater Engineer (Industrial Biological Wastewater Treatment Engineer) is primarily responsible for leading or supporting the design of biological wastewater treatment systems. Activities can include preliminary and detailed process sizing calculations using industry standard calculations (e.g. Eckenfelder, ASM, ADM) or modeling software (e.g. GPS-XTM); development and oversight of bench and pilot treatability testing; support to be provided to Global team for preparation of feasibility, concept, and basis of design reports; preparation of process diagrams, mass balances, and process and instrumentation diagrams; and preparation of process control descriptions/narratives.
Other responsibilities may include:
• Executing projects and provide technical engineering support to global team for developing PFD, P&ID, Equipment layout, 3D models.
• Coordinate execution of projects with other disciplines.
• Manage and lead condition assessment evaluations for industrial biological wastewater system assets.
• Support the creation of cost estimates and project schedules and be responsible for completing design tasks within budget and on schedule.
• Manage and lead the growth of client relationships.
• Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior-level engineers and other technical staff.
• Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications
• 8-10 years of industrial wastewater experience.
• Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Chemical / Environmental Engineering or a related field of study with focus on biological wastewater treatment.
Key Skills/Attributes
• Ability to effectively discuss project issues with Global team suppliers/vendors, to deliver technical presentations for team.
• Experience managing preparation of and reviewing and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
• Excellent technical engineering and project/task management skills in the water/wastewater practice area.
• Client relationship skills; including preparation and development of proposals and client management experience with a successful track record of delivering various engineering projects to the expectations of the client.
• Functional experience with MS Office applications.
• Self-motivated.
Preferred Qualifications
• 8-10 years of experience.
• Ceng License shall be preferred.
• Experience with biological wastewater process modelling and other specialized software packages added advantage.
• Deep understanding of biological wastewater treatment process and process mechanical design including pump sizing, hydraulics, piping and rack layout, pressure relief device sizing, etc.
• Active participation in industrial committees within regional or national professional associations
