Job Description

This position is responsible for the development and support of PHP applications with PostgreSQL/MySQL. The candidate will work collaboratively with peers to develop, enhance, and maintain applications, supporting both current customer applications and developing new apps or modifications to existing ones. This role requires an experienced, self-motivating individual capable of performing in a dynamic web development environment.Responsibilities:

• Develop/implement new modules to specifications
• Implement fixes for existing applications per specifications or on the direction of senior staff
• Deploy changes/new modules into the production environment or client framework
• Commit code to source versioning systems according to guidelines
• Troubleshoot issues, understand client business processes, and provide solutions for applications in development or production
• Implement unit test cases for your code and contribute to integration testing
• Keep clear and descriptive code comments; understand project documentation and keep project files well organized
• Contribute to technical documentation and deployment guides
• Perform testing and work with QA to ensure applications meet relevant QA standards, devising a plan to minimize errors and bugs
• Increase proficiency in technologies used by the client and stay updated on new technologies
• Review code to ensure it is maintainable, error-free, and compliant with project requirements
• Develop application that is secure
• Provide feedback and training to junior developers
• Participate in peer code reviews

The ideal candidate for the position should have the following skills and experience:Technical Qualifications:

• Experience with PHP in either windows or Linux environments
• Experience with MVC frameworks like Symfony (preferred), Laravel, or CodeIgniter
• Experience with JavaScript/ jQuery as part of web applications
• Experience with SQL-based databases, MySQL, and PostgreSQL (preferred)
• Experience with Unit testing using PHPUnit
• Experience with a source control system like CVS, Subversion, TFS, or Git
• Experience with Joomla or WordPress (preferred)
• Knowledge of AWS or Google Cloud - (Preferred)

• Ability to identify alternative solutions and choose the optimal implementation path
• Persistence to follow through and ensure the correct logic is applied
• Quick learner, capable of grasping new concepts and technologies

Education and Work Experience:

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related scientific discipline
• The candidate should have minimum of 5 years of working experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
