ABOUT CIMEstablished in 2014, the Centre for Intrinsic Motivation (CIM) is a flagship venture of Schools and Teachers Innovating for Results (India). We see teachers as integral to achieving quality education under the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4. We support learning outcomes, working in collaboration with governments and partner organisations. Working across three states (Delhi, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu), we are currently reaching 4.8 lakh teachers and 92 lakh children.THE PROBLEM STATEMENTChildren in India are struggling to read, write and think critically. India's National Education Policy makes quality education a mandate to prepare children with foundational skills like literacy and numeracy, and 21st century skills such as critical thinking and problem solving to navigate an increasingly complex world. Teachers are the decisive factor towards this. However, teachers are not supported at the school level and there is no mentoring. Consequently, the impact on classroom practice is limited.OUR SOLUTIONOur focus is on improving the quality of education in government schools. We believe that teachers have the most critical play to ensure children improve their learning outcomes, and hence invest in raising their motivation levels. We have demonstrated that our approach of working with governments and embedding change within the government system is sustainable and scalable. It is also a cost effective approach.THE CHANGE
