Title: Senior Manager ? Process Automation Mission: Ensure the automation, implementation, and qualification of the assembly process in accordance with the principles of SPS / Lean manufacturing. Responsible for Automation support of electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic & programmable elements of manufacturing/Testing/automated/SPM equipment in production lines. Develop & deliver assembly process with the best operational performance in safety, environment, quality, lead time, process capacity, landed costs and capital engaged. Bring locally his/her technical expertise within industrialization assembly process team. Select, validate, introduce, and Standardize new automation & test technologies/processes. Roles & Responsibilities:
Develop automation for new assembly process equipment of manual / semi-automatic / fully automatic lines in accordance with Machine building standards.
Influence the project by designing assembly processes and flows simultaneously with new product development from the most upstream phases of the OCP (Offer creation processes).
Optimize the industrial performance by promoting digitization, late differentiation of products and maximum re-use & standardization.
Drive our processes to a high standard of Energy Efficiency & low CO2 extended footprint and incorporate environmental Best Available Techniques (BAT)
Develop lean manufacturing & agility in our OCP project activities while respecting the supply chain policy
Introduce innovative industrial technologies according to product technology roadmap.
Prepare the detailed equipment technical specification in alignment with Schneider global standards.
Select and assess suppliers together with purchase department. Drives realization of equipment following SE methodology.
Follow up, evaluates, and validates studies of the supplier
Work closely with the supplier during Assembly line and equipment development.
Validate the equipment functioning along with process team & coordinate for the qualification of the equipment / assembly line with the quality team.
Coordinate for installation & commissioning of equipment and assembly line in the manufacturing factory.
Make return on investment analysis to compare different solutions
Leads technical trials and tests to validate critical assembly technologies participate in the installation and setting up of new equipment in the factories. Simulates flows and capacities and optimize process yield
Support factories for critical issues where assembly is involved Learn the working of all machinery in assembly, finishing and standalone equipment (SPM/automated bench/test equipments in the Line).
Plan and coordinate several suppliers to maintain/upgrade equipment including automatic conveyors, manual assembly benches, semi-automatic assembly benches and automatic testing equipment.
Understand the maintenance needs of an equipment/line for the production.
Capability in performing medium level corrections in equipment wiring, routing, programming etc.
Coordinate with the factories? maintenance department to consider of their needs and realize equipment.
Support factories for critical issues where industrialization support is required.
Regular monitoring and reporting of performance of equipment.
Regular evaluation of functioning of equipment and follow-up on Preventive Maintenance from the plant team
Learn new technologies/equipment by proper testing/evaluation.

Do the programming or modify the programming on the need basis using PLC, HMI, MES, VB .net, NI LabView, TestStand etc.
Review the programming done by supplier & validate.

Accountable until Product/Process and Flow have reached the required level of robustness and efficiency as committed with Supply Chain operations
Required skills & Knowledge:
Very good knowledge in main assembly technologies laser marking, labelling, screwing, riveting, pneumatic/electrical/mechanical machines, resistance welding, soldering, painting, packaging, ultrasonic welding, Hot foil stamping, Vision Camera, Flow packing, Pad printing, Electronics assembly, snap fitting, pick and place, adjustment, Robotics, flow packing, etc.
Good knowledge & proven experience in development of SPM (Special purpose machine) for manual, semi-auto & Fully automatic assembly lines.
Good knowledge in test equipment (mechanical, electrotechnical, electronics, magnetic, thermal, differential, HV, continuity). Knowledge of Automatic assembly equipment, test benches build and maintenance
Strong in Process and Machine design principles and Automation Skills
Strong experience in automation & programming software like PLC, HMI, MES, VB .net, NI LabView, TestStand, SQL Database. Knowledge in Schneider PLC is added advantage.
Knowledge on Smart Machines, IIoT, Machine Learning and Data Science
Knowledge on Lean Manufacturing, process line design & capacity management.
Experience on Digitization, Industry 4.0 tech and its application
Sound knowledge on Total Productive Maintenance (TPM )
Knowledge in Schneider automation and switchgear products/equivalent products is preferable.
Good knowledge in IT and computer based SPMs, Communication protocols.
Good knowledge in developing complete assembly line with end to end ownership.
Good knowledge in manufacturing methods and maintenance
Very good knowledge in SPS methodology (lean manufacturing principles).
Good knowledge in Pneumatic elements & sensors.
Good knowledge in ergonomic and safety standards.
Good knowledge in Digitization in assembly process & Industry 4.0 initiatives.
Skill for estimating the Capex / new investment for Assembly line equipment of new project.
Good knowledge in test and control of products and advanced quality (qualification principles Cp, Cpk, Knowledge in 6 sigma?s approach, FMEA)
Good knowledge in IT (very good knowledge of excel)
Able to support people in methods department in the factories and to give know-how.
Able to calculate cost and ROI Knowledge in value analysis to take the decision on the different investment options.
Good knowledge in Pokayoke & Jidoka solutions.
Should have the project management skill.
Understand the product working, process design and product testing/assembly needs.
Leadership: He should have good leadership skill & people management skill. Should have good capability to influence others.
Should have good behavioral skill & should have collaboration skill to work with cross functional team. Should have very good communication skill.
Job Conditions:Job environment, working location, geographical responsibility, frequency of travelling etc?
The job scope will involve some or all the activities mentioned in the job description. (please note that the list is only indicative not exhaustive)
The engineer will be based in Schneider, Bangalore office
The engineer must travel / visit the Schneider manufacturing factories & suppliers in India or abroad, for technical discussions, trials, qualification, support wherever necessary
The stay outside could depend on the stage of the project. It could be for 2-3 days at initial stages could extend to 2-3 months in the final stages. He will not resist the same
He should be keen on travelling. (50 to 75% time on travel)
The engineer will follow all Schneider set procedures / formats
He will extend his working hours as and when it is necessary for the project deliverables
The engineer will maintain strict confidentiality about all the work carried out by him and will not disclose any information to whoever without the consent of Schneider manager
He will be provided introduction to the systems and procedures followed & he needs to follow the same.
