Join the SambaNova team to develop state-of-the-art industry-leading AI processor families. We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Physical Design to lead our Physical Design team in the development of innovative and efficient designs for our products. With 10-15 years of experience in physical design, the successful candidate will have a deep understanding of design principles, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The Senior Manager will be responsible for leading a team of Physical Design engineers, developing and executing the Physical Design strategy, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and tape out of our AI processors.


Responsibilities


• Build, lead and manage a team of Physical Design engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and coaching to ensure the team's success.
• Develop and execute the Physical Design strategy, aligning with the company's overall product roadmap and engineering goals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architecture and RTL front end design, RTL verification, package design and manufacturing to ensure seamless integration of the chip towards a successful tape out.
• Design and develop innovative, efficient, and high-quality physical designs for our products, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Develop and maintain relationships with tool vendors and partners to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of physical design components.
• Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery.
• Develop and manage schedule forecasts and resource allocation plans for the Physical Design team.
• Identify and mitigate risks, and develop contingency plans as needed.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in physical design & sign off and apply this knowledge to improve our designs and processes.


Basic Requirements


• Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Strong fundamental knowledge in VLSI logic and circuit designs with experience in new transistor technologies.
• 12-15 years of experience in physical design (15-20 years with Bachelor's degree), with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management role.
• Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with schedule forecasting and resource allocation planning.
• Strong technical background in physical design with experience in synthesis, timing constraints, floor planning, placement, clocking and routing using standard synthesis and place & route tools. In addition, require expertise in LEC, timing and PDV closure, electrical verification including signal integrity & EMIR for sign off.
• Experience with state-of-the-art industry tools in the VLSI design and sign off space.
• Experience with technology design rules and design for testability (DFT).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.


Preferred Qualifications:


• Understanding of packaging technologies and system/board design.
• Understanding of HW design for AI/ML chips
