Star Sports is the leading sports broadcaster in India. It offers a wide variety of sports content, broadcasting all major sports events such as IPL, ICC tournaments, Premier League, Pro Kabaddi, Wimbledon etc. We serve high quality content to millions of customers with world class technology and production. We are now seeking an individual to join our dynamic marketing team. This position is responsible for handling strategy & marketing plans, and for driving viewership of emerging sports properties (PKL, PL, Wimbledon etc.)Context:Star Sports is a key catalyst in espousing a multisport culture in India. Over the past 5 years, it has invested in and partnered with key stakeholders to popularize sports beyond Cricket. The key focus of this role will be to grow viewership of emerging sports events on TV and to deepen engagement with light, medium and heavy consumer cohorts of the sports/events. The role will also oversee marketing efforts to recruit new viewers and reinvite lapsers of the sports/events.Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering viewership (TVR, Reach, Consumption) & Marketing (awareness, intention to watch) KPIs for the portfolio through disruptive and innovative communication strategy and marketing plans. This involves:
  • Data Analysis: Assimilating and analysing viewership trends, triggers and barriers for viewership for each property/event, and ratifying different hypotheses basis the data analysis with the help of primary or secondary research where applicable
  • Insight Mining: Identifying key trends, viewer triggers & barriers. Converting actionable insights into effective product interventions, and media & communication plans
  • Project Management: Leading diverse and multi-functional project teams (league owners, programming, acquisition, distribution, sales, commercial) to manage the end-to-end delivery of marketing plans for the different properties in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Marketing Communications: Developing clear briefs for the various properties/events as per the aligned goals/deliverables. Briefing the internal and external creative teams - clearly articulating the insights, key propositions, potential campaign spaces and delivery expectations. Aligning the approach & finalization of the marketing communication plan (which should cover owned media, paid media, digital, social, activations & programming) for the event
  • Developing breakthrough campaigns maximizing the brand awareness for the sport
  • Campaign Execution: Developing integrated marketing campaigns and working closely with internal marketing stakeholders (insights, creative, media, social, partnerships, PR teams) to obtain the required support for executing the defined plans. Driving the execution of action plans along with a clear cascade plan which captures the on-air dates for all the different tactical elements of the marketing plan
  • Target Setting: Defining strategic roadmap of each property, including defining targets and aligning key goals for the marketing task - ranging from awareness targets, intention to watch targets, media reach targets and viewership targets (TVR, reach, frequency, consumption etc.) - specific to geographies, consumer cohorts etc.
  • Scheduling Inputs: Provide data-backed recommendations for scheduling of matches for key properties.
  • Project Tracking & Review: Tracking key business & marketing metrics against the aligned goals/targets; crystallizing action points for implementing within the season or next season.
  • Budget Management: Maintaining & tracking marketing spends, ensuring adherence to budgets under different cost heads, delivering efficiencies.

Qualifications:
  • MBA in Marketing from tier 1 B school
  • 5-8 years of marketing and brand management experience - driving ATL, BTL and end-to-end Integrated Marketing Campaigns for large national consumer brands
  • Proven track record of delivering impact
  • Experience of working in a matrix organization will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of marketing principles, media planning, consumer research, ATL & BTL campaign development
