Job Description

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• To manage Environment management system (i.e. air/water/water water/solid waste/hazardous wastes/noise/marine) of the port as per all applicable Env. Acts/Rules.
• Continued monitoring & assessment of Environmental parameters and regulations.
• To improve environmental performance of the Port by adopting new concepts, i.e. carbon footprint, carbon neutrality etc.
• To keep close liaison with environmental regulating authorities, i.e GPCB, CPCB, DoEF, MoEF and to arrange required Consent/Authorisation/Clearance under all applicable Env. Acts/Rules. To achieve compliance in periodic & prescribed submission to concerned authorities.(timely submission)
• To conduct periodic monitoring, audit, study and submit statements/reports to SPCB/DoEF/MoEF/CPCB and other reports to APMM.
• To comply with directives/instructions of SPCB /CPCB/MoEF, (as & when require)
• To manage post project-monitoring plan as per approved EIA & EMP.
• To follow proper documentation and monitoring practices and procedures, which will facilitate the company to go for IS 14001 or equivalent environmental management systems at a later stage.
• Training / awareness programs in the areas of environment protection.
• Other miscellaneous activities related to up gradation of environmental status of the port, i.e. green belt, plantation, water conservation, energy conversation etc.
• Other related works assign by the HOD.

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

(IPE Factor: Knowledge)

• Requires bachelor/master's degree in Environment engineering.
• Requires at least 15 years of experience in the field of Environment, as an environment engineer.
• Must possess experience, in environment auditing, monitoring & inspection, liaison with regulatory authorities, procedural requirements in obtaining Consents/Authorization/periodic submission, design/operation of EMS/APCD, Envt. Equipment/replies/etc.
• Must have an in-depth knowledge of Environment legislations.
• Must have an in-depth knowledge of designing of preventing mechanisms by application of engineering and operational control.
• Must have an in-depth knowledge of Environment science/mechanism, including inspections and investigations, env laws and regulations, international regulations and procedures, as they relate to env. Issues in the workplace.
• Requires excellent organizational skills, including designing, evaluating, planning, directing, and monitoring activities.
• Requires ability to communicate, both verbally and written, in English and the local language.
• Requires good problem-solving skills, with an ability to define the problem, examine solutions, and select the best solution, and this must be done at times under stress and an immediate response time.
• Requires ability to write comprehensive reports for both investigations and inspections.
• Requires ability to remain calm, but able to direct others, in times of emergency.
