Role Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities: Responsible for leading a globally distributed team that maintains and support On-Prem and Cloud database environments, manages costs and provides production support. As a Manager of the SRE team you will be responsible for the continuous improvement of the operational metrics. Driving day-to-day operations of the team and contributing to the development and prioritization of the Database & Big Data SRE team for major initiatives Establishing strong working relationships with peer infrastructure and the technology and business stakeholders Influencing architecture decisions in your team and for individual services to optimize resilience and scalability Growing the organization through hiring and creating professional growth opportunities for the members of your team Oversees a team of Site Reliability Engineers on projects to ensure improvement of the availability, scalability, latency and efficiency of LSEG\'s services. Leads by example, mentors the team and establishes credibility through quality technical execution. Owns end-to-end availability and performance of key services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence. Implements new / improved site reliability processes and best practices, as required by Group or departmental Heads. Ensures the site reliability community has the technical skills required to deliver against long-term plans. Supports and develops team members by providing advice, coaching and development opportunities. Manages to budget and delivers quality software development delivery. Deputises at key meetings and as necessary. Leads design work and planning for elements within projects, breaking them down to stories with product owners and quality leads. Promotes collaboration between and within teams and communicates complex information clearly to all audiences. Leadership responsibilities Part of Foundation Services Database & BigData SRE team reporting to the Director of Database & BigData SRE Manage the team of Database and BigData SRE\'s (DBA\'s) Cultivate key relationships with technology tower leads Develop team skills and capabilities Manage team performance reviews Critical deliverables Reduce recovery time on incidents Escalation point for major incidents / business stakeholder escalations Drive best practice and continual improvement for incident recovery and problem management Key KPIs MTTR for services (Detection, Response & Resolution) Coverage and visibility of services health checks Automation of recovery and operational tasks Successful/unsuccessful changes implemented Problem tasks and aged tickets Security and IT control compliance Minimum Requirements Degree or equivalent Experience as an SRE, including hiring and cross functional collaboration 15+ years in IT 5+ years of experience enabling key business priorities through the successful delivery & support of technology, and as a leader overseeing a broad range of talent Strong experience in RDBMS and/or NoSQL technologies Strong understanding and experience in microservices and cloud architectures Experience in a role with operational or production responsibility Deep understanding of database and big data technologies and scaling issues Hands-on coding/troubleshooting experience Exceptional communication and influencing skills Excellent organisational and time management skills.
