We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Were flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances These requests will be reviewed and agreed for a period of time i.e., will have a start and end date.

Introduction:
This is a senior Hadoop admin role . The person will need to support entire Hadoop estate - Production and DR Hadoop environments through its lifecycle. This role is required to be part of Service Operations team and is required to work in shifts.

What will you be doing?
o Ownership and leadership of technical resolution for high severity production incidents (Sev 3 high, Sev 2 and Sev1)
o Adherence to Barclays standards for change control, database security and database patterns, adhering to banks governance and control procedures.
o Provide on-call rota support where required
o Lead and define database delivery requirements for Service Improvement Unit initiatives
o Able to clearly communicate complex technical issues to a wide audience.
o Analysis of re-occurring incidents and identify service improvements where possible.
o Be an effective, proactive team member, influencing the behaviour of colleagues internally and across Infrastructure Services

What were looking for:
o Ready to work in Production Operations
o Real time, hands-on experience in Cloudera Hadoop administration
o Expertise in Hive and Impala
o Working experience in Hadoop Security (TLS Encryption)
o Working experience in Kerberos + AD
o Strong Unix Background
o Clear understanding of Networks and Firewalls
o Working Experience in Cloudera distribution Hadoop(CDH) is must

Skills that will help you in the role :

• Working experience with Spark,Solr,Hbase and Kafka are preferred
• Cluster Performance tuning
• Experience with Monitoring tools like Ganglia, Splunk and Nagios.
• Experience in automation tools Chef + Scripting are preferred.
